CB500/550 / Re: Engine bolt« on: August 16, 2018, 10:51:32 PM »Hi , just put the engine back in my 550 after doing the transmission , got all the mounting bolts in and nipped up , when i tightened the rear upper bolt ,[ m10 x 280mm long] , striped the thread !!!! didnt over tighten it, but knew it looked a bit knackered when i took it out ,anyone know the thread pitch ? looks to be 1.00 or 1.25 . I see somebody has said they have a bolt that you can have, but if you couldn’t get one, you could use M10 threaded rod, stud bar, with a nut on each end. 118

I used the method in the link below, to clean my tank a few years ago now. So far, so good.

CB500/550 / Re: Alternative side stand« on: July 26, 2018, 04:55:20 PM »Just measure 4 stands from 500/550 through the years and they go from about 20.3mm to 21.5mm (centre of pivot to bit that touches down. On the three bikes I've used I also consider them all bit short. I suppose slightly oversize tyres will not help, but on a road with a bit of camber I am wary. I notice that there are pads sold to attach to the stands of modern bikes, but can't see a way of adding length to classic bikes without welding a pad on the bottom. Millimetres? Do you mean centimetres (cm) 120
