This is all I can offer. Step one is to identify your model, meaning: compare engine- and framenumber to those listed here on p.4 http://www.honda4fun.com/pdf_parts_list/pdf_spac500-550/CB500-550_K3-K4.pdf
Then go to the wiring diagrams here: p.182-4 https://www.classiccycles.org/media//DIR_1653304/DIR_1653404/DIR_1653507/ecc6759db0a214d5ffff8825ffffe41e.pdf  to find out which scheme is applicable for your specific model. You could also check the last two pages here: http://www.honda4fun.com/pdf_libretti/500/CB500_550/CB500_550_09.pdf
cant use this method as the engine is a think from an f2 thanks though

Would anyone know why my steering stem doesn’t have a hole in it for the steering lock it’s a cb 550k3 which has many parts from an f1 fitted to it but according to cmsn the steering stem is the same for both models

Thanks for the advise guys. I did look at David Silver, but they were out of stock a while ago. Thanks!

I'd take the butterfly nuts off the air filter casing and swap them with the tool compartment nuts, nothing worse than needing a spanner to get into the tools and then finding out you need a tool to get to the tools.
good thinking probably should put some tools in there also
