I try to counter the ferry price argument with this. How much does it cost to get trackside at the British GP? To see how many races? And if you follow a particular rider and he bins it early in the race😭 Compare that to what you get for your money at the TT. Accomodation is of course another thing. I consider myself very fortunate to have the generosity of friends over there who's garden I camp on. Also I'm very fortunate to live close to Heysham. So I never pre book the boat. I just turn up & get on. I have never failed. Here's hoping to be back soon. Isle of white will never happen!

The anti TT lobby has been gathering momentum for some time now. Both on & off the Island. Plus the health & safety obsessed World we now live in. The two year cancellation will crush the hospitality sector. The average age of those going to the TT is around 50. Many of these would not contemplate camping The constant struggle to get Marshall's + the lack of younger motorcyclists. The future looks bleak. As a TT supporter who has not missed a TT since 1977. Or a Manx gp since 2000. I sincerely hope I am wrong. But I have over the last decade seen the organisers milk the tits off the dying cash cow.

There is a possibility. We have seen the last of the TT.

I have bought pressed aluminium plates from this guy on many occasions in the past. Very satisfied I was too. However. He appears to have gone rogue. I ordered a plate over 2 months ago. He said it would be 3 weeks. He took payment over the phone at the time I placed my order. After 4 weeks I rang him. He said he was having a problem with his machine. But I would have my plate by the weekend. I has not arrived. I cannot reach him by phone or mobile or email. The address on his business card does not exist. It's a shame really. He has been a good supplier in the past. Just thought you should know.

Just browsing eBay. Looking at 750f1's which I admit to having a soft spot for. I spotted a F1 Cafe Racer. Which looks ok. If you like that sort of thing. But I think. If one is going to do something different. Do yer own thing. Not buy someone else's. But my point is. How can someone take a bike. Then throw half of it away. Then ask 3 times what a original mint bike is worth?

I don't remember my 750f1 squealing at all. It had twin discs. The brakes did make a clanging noise occasionally, due to me removing the adjuster screws & springs. However. The brake squeal on my K1 is really infuriating. Weird thing is. My K1 is wearing the very same front end that was in my F1. I am now considering fitting EBC pro-lite discs. In an attempt to stop the noise. Does anyone know if this will work?

Hello Hairy. I too love my Cb175. It really is a little big bike. It is generally my go to bike. Great fun on the right road. I also have one in my living room. Unfortunately too good to use. But at least it fills the gap where the idiots lantern once stood. The sloper is a hoot to ride revs like mad handles like a tea trolley & shakes like a shitting dog. But still great fun!

The engine is in fine fettle. When just driving through the gears. The CB will bob along at 55/60. Thrash it through the gears it will go much faster. But the cd revs a lot more readily and rolls along at faster pace. Just to make it clear. I am not new to bikes. I have not been without a bike for the last 45 years. I currently own 10 bike properly restored by myself to a very high standard.

Partial? I've got a shed full. May well scoot over. Seeing as there's no Manx.

In the 60,s Honda knew how to make a bike thrive on revs. Maybe a bit of GP know-how rubbed of on the humble sloper. They are certainly more willing to rev that the vertical engines. Even though it has 1 less carb & 1 less gear. I'm not just going on Speedo readings I can see & feel the difference.

I am fully aware of the things you point out. But I am the same rider on both bikes. And the same weigh in each. As for the riding conditions. I have come to the conclusion that the Sloper is far quicker than the CB during the 25 years that I have owned the bikes . Over in America they race a lot of 175,s & the Sloper engine would appear to be preferable Over the later vertical engine. They rev far more readily.

After a day out on my CD175a sloper. I was left wondering. Why is it. My 67 "get to work bike" is so much faster than my "sports" CB175k6 with its twin carbs etc. The CB is in top condition. Whereas. The CD engine is getting ready for a refurb. There is almost 20 mph difference & the CD is quicker of the mark too. Don't get me wrong tho. I'm very happy with both bikes but. On paper the CB should be the quicker bike by far. But isn't! So I just wonder why.

I had a Tiger Cub. Its crappiness was only surpassed by the Norton jubilee that came after. But I have owned my Xl Motorsport for the passed 20yrs The only comparison to to the Cub. Is the woefully inadequate 6v electrics.
