I usually dose my tank, carbs etc with Redex injection cleaner

Seems to help

But, regular rides are better

Never less than 10miles

Get the motor HOT

Going to such a high gearing will blunt acceleration, and turn top gear into an overdrive,

It would give you relaxed cruising in the 50s, but cut your ability to overtake,

You will also need to drop to lower  gears Going up hills,

My advice is to keep it how it is,

Just ride slower

I am using VMCC 10w-40 oil for mine, good price

Previously used Eurocar parts
own brand triplex 10-40

Seems to work OK,

How close are you to Liverpool?

Grampian Motors do a fair job

You really need to measure everything,

Bores plus  0,004 need to be bored,

Obviously mains,big ends checked,

Rubbers in clutch cush drive,

Oil seals,

Honda engineers did a great job,

My 500 recently had a refresh,

After 80,000 miles the bottom end just needed clutch Rubbers and primary chain,

No, they are not like that,

Tickover should be smooth between 1,000 and 1,200

Check the colour of the plugs,

May be sooty, because its on Tickover,

Sounds like maybe the slow running jet could be dirty/blocked

Have you altered the ignition at all?

If the scratch is only 1cm long and  1mm wide it shouldn't be an issue,

OK, it's not perfect, but the rings are at least 2mm or 3mm wide,

So they shouldn't drop in,
On 2 strokes the ports are far bigger,

Mine goes over the carbs, away from the throttle cables and linkage, above the airbox, and down between the battery box and  electric panel,

Length is personal preference,

About level with the centre stand pivot

Always wondered, what is the purpose of the link pipe between the top and bottom pipes near the ends?
I know in the late 60s, Triumph linked the exhaust on their twins,

I think to increase the expansion capacity, to help breathing and maybe making quieter,

The Honda ones are similar, but appears to be much further along the exhaust pipes,

Does it make a difference?

Hopefully those with more information will explain
