Thanks Mick, the bike is actually finished, I'm just waiting for the tank and seat to come back from the painter, he's had some problems too.

I've had a couple of PM's asking if I have abandoned my project and also asking if I was ok due to the inactivity on my resto log and on here, thanks for that it's good to know people notice these things, especially people you have never met, this really is a good forum. Sadly my ex wife passed away last month so me and the kids have been a bit at sixes and sevens hence the inactivity on the bike and the forum but things are settling down a bit now.

The trouble with the internet is that the "information" is only as good as the knowledge of the person who inputs it, if you look at the source code for the page Simon posted some punter called John Barach authored the page, where he got his info from nobody knows, some people do have the right knowledge but as a rule only believe it if it is from an official source.

I find the fast pump method agitates the fluid and just makes smaller bubbles, the 24 hour method slowly squeezes the air lock out.

This works for air locks.

Is it the front or rear brake ? If it's the rear and the master cylinder is like on my RD where the piston is pushed up into the cylinder you may have to back fill it with fluid, there is an explanation of how I did it towards the bottom of this page.

This is what I was faced with, the fusebox was bypassed altogether and had 3 in line fuses added to the wires plucked from the loom, as it was a total rebuild I had the loom completely off the bike and refurbished with new connectors and a fusebox I got from this guy, amazingly the only problem I had when I refit the loom was with the head light main beam and Simon (Lobo) pointed me in the right direction, I had 1 bad wire (blue to bulb holder), I'm not really that good when it comes to wiring and always number label each wire when I strip a bike because sometimes PO's change things, the rear light was green in the loom but blue from the light and a lot of wires were black due to someone being over zealous with a rattle can, what experience has taught me is that if a wire burns it is usually a faulty component or a short somewhere, as for testing components apart from finding faulty wires and circuits with a multi meter I'm out of my comfort zone, Simon is your man for that kind of stuff.

Red/white to rectifier and red to ignition

Edit
The red/white wire goes to the rectifier connecting block which is wired like this.

It has got a centre stand, it's on it in the photo where I am stood behind it, I was once offered £4000 for it by the guy who owns the garage where I get it MOT'd but as I've had it so long I can't bring myself to sell it, I knocked a lamppost down with the RD125 further up this thread 2 days before I was due to take my test and I needed a bike ASAP so I bought the 250 whilst the 125 was being fixed (bent forks and buckled wheel) then sold the 125 which was already paid for with my summer job money (I bought it when I was 16) and kept the 250 which was on HP, I used the money from the 125 to pay off part of the 250.

The top photo was pinned inside the lid of a wooden toolbox I made as an apprentice and has 1981 written on the back, the bottom photo is the same bike in 2013.
