Another aviation shambles was the change in air pressure measurement from Millibars to Hectopascals just to please the French. Both measurements are metric and they are exactly the same! Just a name change. Absolutely pointless!
Oh, and America still use inches of mercury instead. 😣

It always makes me smile whenever I get given a drawing to make something and its a mixture of metric and imperial. A case of whatever is convenient. These days tape measures should only have metric on them. What year did we go decimal.
It makes me laugh too. In Junior school about 100 years ago they taught us imperial and metric, then said we would be completely metric 'very soon!' 😂

That's a really nice looking bike. Well done. Should top out around 160mph when flat out, impressive.
Lol! I'd want better brakes if it did that! 😁

All speedos over read, as long as its inside 10% its legal
This is more than normal. In traffic at an estimated 40 - 45 mph it was reading 70!

Thanks for all the nice comments everybody. I'm pleased with how it has turned out. The speedo seems to be over reading, I'm thinking now that it may be off a different model. 🤔

Very nice ,simple clean lines .
Where did you get the seat from and I'm looking for one in that style for my special Northy
It was a pretty ropey Guiliari seat with a rusty base and torn cover. I shortened it a little at the back and reshaped it then got a local coach trimmer to recover it with a foam hump. I think it looks a bit too big overall but it might grow on me.

My mate has got one exactly the same as that on his 400 four. It might be a non oem replacement, just a bit different to standard.

A few years ago I bought a 400/4 in bits and have carried out a slow rebuild/restomod as and when time and money allowed. A lot of the standard parts I got in the collection of boxes were rusted beyond saving. I decided to build a cafe racer, but without cutting the frame or any other mods which would prevent the bike being put back to standard. I've had lots of help from this forum and I'm sure that I couldn't have finished the rebuild without that help. Thanks guys!

I couldn't see the original pics either, just replied to the description of the problem.

I think they have. That shouldn't be necessary because a proper machine shop would be able to get them out without drilling through. It's possible to burn the rubber out and chisel/split the metal sleeve without damaging the hub.

'English' bike? Is that different from a Welsh, Scottish or Irish bike? 😆
if you look at the various diagrammes for this bike (on line etc) you will note it says 'model - english'
Nooooooooo! 😭

I use Avon Roadriders on mine, standard sizes. Your front Comstar is bigger diameter than the standard 18in so that might give a tight clearance on the mudguard. If you go wider on the rear tyre there is very little clearance at the swingarm and chain. Measure carefully before you commit.

I'm not going to get into politics, I've lived all over the UK and I want us to stay as a united kingdom. It seems like the politicians of all flavours are doing their best to screw us up.
In the meantime, my 400 four is a UK model in all the manuals/lists, etc. 👍
