CB350/400 / Cam chain adjuster bolt 400-4
« on: September 26, 2015, 07:01:05 PM »
Right next stupid question.
At some point in its life my 400 has had the cam chain adjuster bolt located at the front of the engine replaced with a none standard part. I now have the right bolt, washer, o ring & nut to replace the crap one.
What I can't figure out is, can I just remove the offending item and fit the new one or is it more involved.

Cheers

Tim

I agree with the naming and shaming policy.
Especially if his bike was to turn up on fleabay, I'll be more than happy to throw in some bids then withdraw them just to wind him up.

CB350/400 / Valve clearance 400-4
« on: September 26, 2015, 06:45:28 PM »
Hi guys.
Started to check the valve clearances the 400 this afternoon and all was going well until I got to no3 intake valve. Whilst trying to adjust it I noticed that the feeler gauge will not pass under the rocker arm as it is tight up against the top of the spring. It loosens off when the engine is rotated to adjust the other valves.

I've followed the manual to the letter checking and re-checking and it still arrives back at the same place.

Cheers

Tim

Bike looks very good so far Roy.
I'm still waiting for stuff to come back from the chromers, painter has all the tins etc.
It's all at a stand still at the moment.

Right then, time for an update.
Tins were dropped off to the painters today.
I've been assured by the chromers I'll get my stuff back end of the month.

Should be taking the engine over to a mechanic friend of mine in a couple of weeks to strip and rebuild. His help has been invaluable over the past couple of months.

I'll sort out some more pictures this weekend.
Getting there slowly and when funds allow.
