Hi Paul seems to be a few of us 30 year+ old school fellas on here  ;D  you should be able to make a nice chop out of a 550/4. I've got a hardtail XS650 along with a few other bikes. Good luck with the build up  8)

My first bike was a 1977 AP50 Suzuki, did 13k miles on it between my sixteenth and seventeenth birthdays, fantastic fun. The worst bike I ever owned was a GSX1100F Suzuki that I bought I think in 1989 which must go down as the worst bike that Suzuki ever made. It was softer than soft and no fun at all a GSX motor with mild cams and poor performance, the only positive thing that I can remember about it was it's powered fairing screen. I can remember riding along watching it go up and down in the rain!.

Could any of you fellas tell me where in the fairing the ignition switch is mounted on the Phil Read Rep as mine is in the standard position.

Just to answer my own question. I pulled out a 1978 copy of 'bike' magazine featuring the PR Honda which shows that the ignition switch is mounted to a panel inside the nose of the fairing to the left of the headlights. It doesn't state why it is re-positiond presumably for more of a race look as it's quite hidden inside of the fairing.

Post up some pics of your bike from all angles. There are some tell-tale modifications that were done on the bike by Colin Seeley that will stand out.

I must admit to always wondering why the ignition switch was relocated to inside the fairing, & I think that it may well have been something to do with the wiring.

Hi sorry can't photo the bike as suggested as it's stripped although i do have a couple of pics that i'll get up of it when it was complete. It's got all of the right bits on it to be a PR excluding the silencer, the ignition switch being in the wrong place, and it's been quite badly painted straight red. I'm also not sure about how Honda produced 150 bikes in the Honda Britain colours and then I believe produced a further 250 of them in either white and blue or white and red. I'm trying to establish, A is it a genuine PR rep, and B if so is it one of the 150 or one of the 250.   :-\

Hi folks just a few lines to introduce myself. I have 3 750/4's 2 x in bits one of which is a Phil Read F2 another F2 that i've just bought as a doner bike for the PR and a 77 K6 that i bought from my brother 2 years ago that he'd owned for 27 years. The K6 is on the road as a rolling restoration having done 2k miles in 2 years. The bike had been sat in wor brothers garage since he'd bought a Blackbird around 10 years back. I'm thinking of building a CR replica out of the doner F2 and have been checking out parts at Mead Speed. I'm not too interested in trying to get it to go quick so long as it ends up looking and sounding the part, I've got a GSXR1000 Suzuki for that! Will post up some pics sometime soon, Cheers guys
