New Member Introductions / CB400f sufferer in Derbyshire
« on: March 03, 2009, 08:09:34 PM »
I have a high maintenance lady. She requires expensive, shiny items, and often causes me great frustration. Then makes it all worth it by being immense fun. She is a 1976 CB400/four, in blue. Bought of a bloke in London who lavished great care on her, I got her as my first big bike after passing my test.
I also have a CG125, and two BSA bantams, one of which I'm restoring as a mini cafe racer. I live near Matlock in Derbyshire. Ayup all.
Oh, forgot to say-I'm also on the classicbikeforum site, same name. I'll post a link to here, for fellow SOHC4 sufferers Smiley

CB350/400 / CB400f camchain and primary drive conversions?
« on: March 03, 2009, 08:05:57 PM »
(posted this on the .net site, sorry if you've seen it)

One day, I would like to rip apart my 400's engine and fit brand new absolutely everything, so I can be sure (!) of reliability. The two main gremlins are the crap camchain adjuster (new chain, adjusters etc fitted october) and rattly primary drive. It sounds like there is a little man playing maracas under the fuel tank, and apparently this is normal! All I need is steel drums in the carbs and dancing girls on the clocks. I've heard vague mentions of a better tensioner and belt drive available. Where can I get these, and does anyone have any experience of these? Preferably from sources in England, since shipping things from America or Japan would be rather expensive.
