In my carbs the idle jet doesn't even come near the metal of the float? Opposite sides...

I always put the airchamber on the carbs first, and then put the complete assembly on the bike, bit of a squeeze, but at least I am sure that the chamber is mounted right, without edges and spaces on the carbs. Posted it before, see if I can find it...

CB500/550 / Re: Throttle movement amount
« on: August 05, 2020, 02:43:16 PM »
I think you shouldn't want to have much less, it will be harder to (hold) open and also harder to dose the throttle, long ago I tried speed gas on my 750 for a while, but went back to standard after a couple of months. That was mainly useful to ride full speed all the time, and doing that on the street, well you know......

About "made of cheese", I never broke one in over 40 years of owning sohc Honda's!

Most peculiar! My 400/4 has about 100 degrees stop to stop and I'm sure it's getting full throttle. More investigation needed.
On my 400 too, easy to go WOT, not even a half turn.

I once got a Hazet sparkplug socket for free when I bought a set of Champion plugs, also 16mm (5/8").
But I think a normal hexagonal 16mm socket would be normally available?
Oh, and I've never known those caps other than 17mm.

I will check my sprockets and see what they are, but I have no way of telling if the clocks are accurate.
GPS? :D

4000 rpm at 60 mph is about the same gearing overall as a cb750, isn't that a bit tall for a 550? 120mph at 8000rpm?

So I don't have a clutch nut removal tool - I'll either have to buy or make one
That's very easy to make...

So now you have almost all the hardware needed to put a second disc brake on your bike? ;)

That is exactly what you change while synchronizing, but while you wait for the new set, why don't you put them all at the same height and see how it runs?

That is without VAT and P&P, total makes €66,55.....

This illustrates that mileage as an absolute basis for judging the chain life has potentially large error.  The only consistent accurate way at technical level is to count crankshaft revolutions.  Chain life at average of 4,500rpm v the same at 7,500rpm will clearly reach the same wear point at very different mileage totals.
That doesn't work either, when riding in the same gear your distance per revolution will be (approx) be the same at high and low revs, just in a shorter time frame ;)
