Hi all,
Finally got time to have a look at the cold starting problem.
It turned out to be the choke butterfly's sticking, the choke on this model has spring actuated butterfly's so when you pull out the choke cable the spring closes them.
In my case they were sticking open, now sorted and starting OK, just Thornton I would let you know about the problem in case anyone else suffers the same problem.
Thanks to everyone for there help.

Bryan/odd job,
Thanks for the info pretty sure these were clean. New jets were fitted and carb cleaner through the jet until it came out of the brass breather on the air box side.
I guess it's back to square one and check everything through.

CB500/550 / Cold starting problem
« on: December 31, 2013, 03:33:51 PM »
Hi,
Any help please.
CB550 K3 won't start when cold even with choke. If I give it a quick squirt with easy start it fires up so obviously fuel issue.
With the choke out it tries to fire up but will not run, if I open the throttle at all it just dies.
Runs fine once it has fired up, any ideas before I start pulling the carbs apart and re checking everything over.
I was sure the float levels were ok but could be wrong.
Any help appreciated.

CB500/550 / Re: OVER WINTERING
« on: December 13, 2013, 01:41:11 PM »
Thanks guys,

Will go the brimming it rout as I also like to use it on nice winter days.
The only thing with that is how often do you have to run it or let the carb bowls fill up to eliminate the gumming up !!
I wondered why all that ACF50 had started to appear on ebay.

CB500/550 / OVER WINTERING
« on: December 13, 2013, 08:29:49 AM »
Hi all,
This question has probably been asked before.
What is the best procedure for over wintering, draining the fuel, oil etc no problem but what is the best way of protecting the chrome without having a nightmare getting the protection off in the spring.
Thought of waxoil but will this be difficult to remove or is it just a good spray of WD40 and a wipe to ensure everything is covered.

Ian,

              Sounds like a sticking valve.
Have you had the guides done, I had this on my 400 4 valve sticks then the piston gives it a little tap and it snaps shut.
Could be wrong though.

CB350/400 / 400 4 LABELS AND WARNING LABELS
« on: December 11, 2013, 01:02:46 PM »
Hi,
Has anyone got a diagram of where the relevant labels and warning labels go.
I have a rough Idea but don't want to make a mistake and position them wrong.
If not I will probably have to troll through all the pictures.

Regards,
