I had an original one on my bike until it fried the wires going into it, that was the only indication that it had failed as well as a flat battery of course. So I would say not a good sign if theres any sign of excessive heat there. Maybe someone with more knowledge than me will verify.

I purchased a basic kit from same company and had reasonable results, difficult indeed to maintain liquid temp. I was wondering about a propagation mat, some are thermostatically controlled. Or just set up in nice warm kitchen!😂😂😂

Looks like there’s been moisture trapped within the packaging! I definitely would try for replacement too. Wonder if these normally have a light oiling.

I ruined my tail light trying to dismantle it. Got a replacement from silvers to end up with. I wouldnt been happy leaving it as it was as it was a tad rusty.

Modification to replacement rectifier by adding heat sinc. Not found a lot of heat in it yet but “belt and braces”

Yes agree with Julie. Some bikes suit alloys some don’t, personally I never liked alloys when they started using them instead of the traditional spoked wheels. Chrome rims and stainless spokes for me.

Interesting to see if it moves with plugs out and full fluid drain, if it’s stuck still stuck then it’s full strip down.

Its because people, instead of spending 50p, re use the alloy sealing washer so many times it deforms badly and the bolt is tightened even more again and again and again
Looks like somebody tried to get the most out of that one.

That is annoying! But very common for people to seize it up (or seal it up) to stop it leaking rather than invest in a new sealing washer. I think a good heat and give it wellie. It’s not going to come out otherwise.

Thanks Bryanj! Running out of ideas as to why my pump didn’t self prime. When I squirted oil into pressure switch port I certainly got three glugs of air out which I was happy to see. It’s fine now a good kick is enough to activate pressure switch. Good for another 1000 - 1500 miles.

Thanks Bryanj, was thinking of that center filter bolt. I am stumped why I had to prime the pump. Might need to pull the sump off and check  to make sure oil intake has the short hose connected properly.

I did wonder about filter and in particular the check valve, but I just emptied oil and didn’t replace filter.
