Hi,
Ok update. got the engine running, well running on one cylinder. the Left is purring like a cat the right nothing at all.

things i have checked
1 spark ....yes
2 fuel ... yes plug is wet when i take it out
3 swapped around plugs still the same
4 swapped the diaphragm from each carb
5 cleaned all jets
6 points  gap checked more than once
7 used a bulb on the points to the left and light comes on when LF on stator
8 if i rev it up i get a bake fire on the right once
9 can the engin run like this with the cam in 180 degrees out?

fed up as i am nearly there :'( :'( :'(

Thanks,
yes its a G5 250 I think its dead on the timing marks. after checking last night it looks like the carbs are not working correctly. the slides are not rising at all. i will check the diraphram's next.

Hi,
I think I have put the cam back in correct,,,,,,,,, but is there a way to make sure. I have turned the roto around by spanner and not valves hitting the piston. but doubt has crept in.
I do know where TDC is but how do i know when TDC on the compression stroke is?

Had my stuff back form Bob, its great. will put some pics up tonight.  i have left some more bits with him. hes a great guy but a bit different if you know what i mean. when you ring time is not a thing he has in spades. also no mobile or card machine. so i either a check or drive  there. but well worth it as his prices are half of the Kent company.

CB750 / Single or twin?
« on: November 27, 2012, 09:42:53 AM »
Hi,
I am confused...I have just bought a pair of forks that were off a K5 when they arrived they looked like they were for twin disc. the screw holes for the disk on the right side have never been used. are theses correct or should the right leg be plain?

Alan,
i rang the Ashford guy, £350 for the rear mudguard (in his dreams) so now i have posted it to Bob Cooper of Chrome Restoration Services
Coventry. the quote was 85+vat + any repairs. as there is two areas of bad rust/hole.
so when i get it back i will post the pics and prices.

Can anyone tell me if the downpipes for a G5 are the same as a CJ250, or a CB250N. I am struggling to find down pipes for my G5 resto.

thanks

Bike goes great, it must have been binding a lot as now it takes far less revs to move off. great
