I really wanted one in the 80's Then bought a very clean example with about 14,000mls. Whilst following a mate on a Hatley 883 sportster. The Cbx crank destroyed itself. A short while after replacing the crank. It started burning oil at a alarming rate. 5ltr=1k mls. Replacing the rings only cut that figure by 50%. So I should have replaced the valve guides. But I had had enough & got rid. Apparently, the crank went again shortly after. This bike had raced in the production TT ridden by Phil Nicholas for Bill Head motorcycles. It would have won except for running out of fuel within a mile from the Finnish. Though it was raced. The engine was built & blueprinted by Tony Scott. So it should have been the best CB750 engine anywhere. Imo. Steer well clear of the Cbx750. A very weak engine & charging system. Sean.

I agree. That's why they are the worlds biggest. In my opinion. The Vfr engine. Is the best motorcycle engine ever built. By a long way. The Cb/d engine is a masterpiece of performance/ simplicity. But lost the plot with the 200, imo.

Yup. Drilled the punch points. I think the surface area of the threads overwhelms the strength of the aluminium its made of.
I forgot to mention the entire VF range.

After spending £28 on a splendid looking wheel bearing retainer removal tool. Which I should imagine I would use only once. Did it work? Did it F!!! So I removed the retainer the same way as I had to 40yrs earlier. With a Hammer & Chisel. What a stupid over engineered idea. What was wrong with a Circlip? It ranks alongside. Honda inboard disc brakes & Honda cable operated disc brake. There are times I think the designers of these things Were sniffing glue. Rant over. Ah that's better. Sean. Ps. NR500.

I would suggest using Hydraulic oil. As it has very low viscosity & it creeps into every nook & cranny. Sean.

Hello. After receiving the somewhat disappointing news from Manno, that my tank is effectively scrap. I'm thinking about a repro 750k1 tank from David Silver. Has anyone here used one? Are there any drawbacks? Your views will be appreciated. Sean.

Thanks for the info. I have ordered a pair of keys from Keysinthepost. Com to be going on with. But ideally I would like original Honda blanks. Any suggestions as to where these could be got? Regards. Sean.

Hello James. Great work & attention to detail. Please excuse my ignorance but. What is a single cut fender? Also. What satin black paint do you recommend? I always used the old PJ1. But I have heard the new stuff in not as good. Regards. Sean.
