Get well soon Bryan.

Misc / Open / Bidding wars on Ebay when there are days left to run. why?
« on: October 06, 2018, 04:51:58 PM »
Been watching a few bikes on Ebay over the past few months.

Can't understand why people are having bidding wars when there are days and days to go before the auction ends.

All it does is push the price up, great for the seller but not the bidders.

One I was watching recently, 6 days to go, 2 people out bidding each other, whats the point?

Am I missing something?

To check the stator measure any 2 yellow wires resistance, should be fairly low ohms (bike not running)
Any yellow wire to ground should measure open circuit.

Bike running, any 2 yellow wires, AC volts around 20v upwards depending on engine speed.
If the meter reads a few milli volts AC on any 2 yellow wires the stator is working, the exciter coil is not, check the voltage (DC this time) to the exciter coil, between white and green wires or white to ground. (this was on my 550 so colours may be different)

I was convinced for ages my stator was faulty on mine, turned out to be a break in the wiring to the exciter coil.

Cheapest place to get them is Euro Car Parts, I got 4 NGK D7EA for £8.99 last week.

They are showing at the moment at £3.19 each, but with one of their discount codes will be way cheaper.

ECP part number is 408774560

Been out for a ride today, done 75 miles.

Here are a couple of pics of the leak, does this look like head gasket starting to go?

CB500/550 / Gasket set where from?
« on: September 29, 2018, 07:00:01 PM »
My head gasket is weeping oil and getting worse although the bike still pulls like a train.

Where is the best place to get from, any makes to avoid?

Could i get away with just changing head gasket or will removing the head disturb the base gasket?

Thanks.

This might be a stupid suggestion but you can get these seals 7mm thick so could you use 2 to get the 14mm?
