You don't need a slide hammer, to remove the primary shaft leave a footrest on the footrest hanger bolt and use that to screw into the end of the primary shaft, using the footrest you can get the primary shaft out easily.

If your not prepared for the gears falling off it's easy for it to catch you unawares, one of the needle roller bearings has the bearing loose inside, the other uses a cage to hold them, if the loose bearing falls off it's a bitch to find them all. Also easy to misplace some of the thrust washers that fall off at the same time.

And when removing the gearbox ensure the end gears and roller don't fall off the shaft.

Found 3 91002-283-000 bearings for sale on US Ebay, these are very rare and whilst not cheap they may be worth buying for someone on here desperate for one.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313843449550?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11021.m43.l3160&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=eed9478c82184f1fb3bcd5d2169b9024&bu=43136868494&ut=RU&osub=-1%7E1&crd=20220122062707&segname=11021&sojTags=ch%3Dch%2Cbu%3Dbu%2Cut%3Dut%2Cosub%3Dosub%2Ccrd%3Dcrd%2Csegname%3Dsegname%2Cchnl%3Dmkcid

Maybe be worth buying all 3 and splitting the postage costs when selling the other 2.

Just curious but why can't you transfer all the bits to the US frame? only the seat lock bracket is different and as it has no seat that's not a problem.

Both of mine are in 6 figures now, yours is barely run in by comparison.

The one I'm doing now has 147000+ miles on it, my K reg was at 268000 last time I rode it, BIL is still riding it about after doing a restoration last year. If I was still young I'd be trying for 7 figures but we don't have the weather at my age to do it.

The 400 is dog slow and the 750 is just too heavy and cumbersome. We are knowledgeably informed that the intelligent solution is a 500 or 550, especially the 550 with its superior drivability and improved gearbox. 1977 F2 is the fastest and especially the ones in  any side of red.

I wouldn’t know as I ride a BMW.

True dat.

Except of course the 500 looks miles better, especially from the back, those 4 pipes just scream class. Colour, has to be gold, black is acceptable but NOT U bend brown.

Ted you little tease. There I was thinking, oh look he's fitting a 4 into 2 system as I can see 2 end cans, he kept that quiet I think. Then I notice there's a mirror behind the end can making it look like 2, bugger.

Love the wheels Ted, black and gold, never fails.

Oh, spray the coils blue, you know you want too.

"Does the Hondaman kit utilise the original capacitors? If so then the buyer could be in for some unforeseen additional costs if his condensers are fooled."

As I understand it, no his system doesn't use them. He leaves them in place but disconnected such that IF his electronics were to fail, then you can hook them back in circuit at roadside in reverting to straight points ignition to not leave you stranded.

Essentially the switching transistor takes all of the load itself with no need of condenser to mitigate. The "fault" side of the points that the condensers are there to control doesn't go away (as are most things in physics) it just comes out as heat from that transistor which has to be adequately dispersed to avoid failure of that component.  Two different sides of a square in carrying out the same task effectively.

Not 100% sure but I seem to recall Mark saying the condensers were left in circuit so that reverting to the points was just a matter of disconnecting the module and restoring the blue/yellow connectors to the original positions. Might be wrong though. If not, then your going to need a toolkit to revert by the roadside.

Turned out nice that Johnny, wonder why Honda didn’t put the calliper bleed nipple right at the top like the 500, can’t make it easy to bleed and may explain why so many complain of spongey brakes. GL1000 suffered with the same design fault iirc.

What colour is that, doesn’t look like the gold.

Two Scotsmen go to Hell.

A demon approaches the devil and says "Dark lord! Two men from Glasgow in Scotland have been sent here. What should be done with them? "
The devil says "Glaswegians? Their kind are normally very friendly, helpful and honest, so we do not see many such men in my dark domain... Hang them in a cage over the lake of fire for now and I shall check on them later."

But when the devil flew up to the cage to check on the Scotsmen, he found them happily lounging around with their shirts off.
"What is the meaning of this?" The devil cried. "You're supposed to be in torment!"
The Glaswegians looked surprised "Naw" they said "it's pure quality taps aff weather here man. It's no drab an' dreek like Scotland, you know that way?"
Fuming, the devil flew to the great thermostat of Hell and cranked it all the way to the top. And the next day, the temperature was so high that even the demons were sweating, the stones of hell were melting and the flames from the lake of fire were leaping higher than ever before.

So the devil was surprised when he visited the Scotsmen and found that they had somehow procured plastic lawn furniture and Buckfast tonic wine.
Raising a glass to the devil, one of the Scotsmen said "Hey big man! If I'd known it was so lovely an warm doon here, I'd've done a whole lot more sinning! Weather's always shite in Glasgae. Always freezin' ma nuts off, you know?"
"I see." The devil replied, smiling though clenched teeth "your dismal country has given you a great love of heat. The hotter it is, the happier you are. Well, we'll see about that."

So saying, he flew to the great thermostat of Hell once more, but this time, he turned it all the way down.
The next day, the lake of fire was frozen solid for the first time, sinners were frozen in blocks of ice and demons huddled in corners for warmth, their teeth chattering. But when the devil visited the Scotsmen, he found them jumping for joy, tearfully cheering "Scotland! SCOTLAND!!!"
The devil's jaw dropped. "What? Why? How? I burn you and you are happy! I freeze you and you celebrate! What is wrong with you?"

One of Glaswegians turned back and said "Is it no feckin' obvious ye daft bastart? Hell's frozen over! Scotland's won the world cup!"
