Thanks, the bike has only done 40k which is nothing for a CBX engine. It was evidently very well cared for and sounded mechanically brilliant when running if a little lumpy due to the usual carb service requirement so for now I am leaving it alone just completing a thorough cosmetic and running gear restoration. Also changing the colour to Candy Glory Red which I love.
Anyway apologies for hijacking your thread let us now how you get on with delivery, Ken

Mine went through exactly the same process anchored off Anglesey etc, I think this is quite normal at the moment as the docks are surcharged. It then stayed for about a week on Liverpool docks due to a lack of container lorries. In the end Billy hired a haulage contractor to get the bikes off the docks by road to Barrow.
From there he was pretty quick getting the bike to me.
In all I ordered the bike on the 23rd October 2019 and it was delivered to me on the 17th January 2020 so near enough 3 months.
Oh and this is where I am up to at the moment with it - [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
Another couple of weeks and I will have the engine running

.... and to aid it I've been in touch with a Chinese spring manufacturer to see if I can get a carb return spring the same dimensions and look as the original but with a much lighter poundage....
Ken, Have you tried Lee Spring in Wokingham - https://www.leespring.co.uk/?gclid=Cj0KCQiA_c-OBhDFARIsAIFg3ezG4XRpFhEs8SFAWo55rx5dR6HhRYhQia3M99vMiq749VmU05j-_30aAn__EALw_wcB They have millions of springs and can make to order. You can enter the dimensions of the current spring and choose the weighting you want, perhaps several for experimentation. Might be worth a try as it will be quicker than working with China

I got a quote from Ashford Chroming last year to plate a few parts on my 550 (mudguards, stay and headlamp ears) they quoted £978!!! In the end went with Agbrigg Chroming - https://www.agbriggchrome.co.uk/ Whilst I certainly would not class their work as 'concours' for £260 I was well pleased. I think in future if I was using them again I would do more of the preparation work myself - thorough cleaning and removal of any small dents/imperfections. Turn around was pretty quick at about 4/5 weeks and communication was great.

I bought a CBX from Flashback Enterprises last year, exactly the same process MoneyCorp transfer, delivery to Barrow etc dealt with a good guy 'Billy' this end who delivered the bike to me at reasonable cost. The bike turned up exactly as advertised, NOVA and taxes all in order so you have nothing to worry about there.
Looking forward to watching your progress
That's reassuring to hear. Did Billy get in touch with you when the bike arrived in Barrow, or will I have to contact him. What did he charge you delivery up to Scotland? Cheers.
Billy got in touch with me, I was in Liverpool at the time of delivery I think he charged £260 but cant quite recall, I didn't feel it was too expensive based on other quotes I had received

I think one of the advantages of the black and silver plate is it ensures those following realise you are not on some modern day pocket rocket especially for the smaller classic bikes. I have definitely noticed fewer people get up your backside since fitting to my 550. I think in particular it kind of shocks youngsters into wondering 'what the hell is that' not being familiar with the plate

Bought a VF750 from Bills Liverpool shop in 1982, what a disaster that was it spent more of its time in the shop trying to fix the horrific cam chain tensioner problem than I had it on the road but I cant fault the service I got from the staff in their Aigburth shop

Welcome to the forum, great build showing a lot of skill. Paintwork is top notch and I can see you are absolutely meticulous about everything else will make a stunning bike when finished.

Dont forget SuperCar - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l412qlmBJxI Made in 1961, you have to admire their imagination and inventiveness, we still haven't truly arrived at what they portrayed but I don't think it will be too long EDIT - You just beat me too it Dennis

My GL1000 is impossible for me to get on the centre stand without a block of wood under the rear wheel. When I was 19 I could do it fairly easily but no chance now!. I also cant get the bike off the stand by sitting on it and rocking, I have to stand at the side and push it off, its actually quite scary to do. By comparison the CBX is dead easy to put on the stand so to me it is all about the design of the stand, partly the weight of the bike and age! I never leave my BMW twins on the side stand as oil seeps into the left hand cylinder. Is there any such issue with the Hondas?
Definitely an issue with the GL1000, smokes quite a bit if left on the side stand but no problems with inline fours
