Thanks Bryanj I had Reg off to see if it was adjustable and I cleaned th three connectors and put some WD40 on them. I will chase up circuit and do the same with all connectors. Do you know where the Main Earth point is and do you think I should replace Battery due to going low on water and refilling.

Me again guys have not got near clutch yet now I have found another problem. I went on a charity run a few months ago we were advised to ride with headlights on after 28 miles my Battery was dead I Charged it up and it seemed ok until I put headlight on. I took battery out yesterday and found that water level was near bottom I topped it up with distilled water and charged it up. I left it disconnected overnight and this am voltage was 12.3v I went for a run of 15 miles and when I got back Batt was 11.94. I connected an ammeter in series with Pos lead and got following Readings. Idle 0A  2K=2A  3K=4A and 4K= 6A. When Headlight put on Charge was 0A at all revs. Reconnected Battery and got following Voltages. Idle=11.64, 2K=12.08, 3K=12.50 4K=12.80. With head light on the voltage never went over 11.75V. I have a Haynes Manual and am going to check Alternator out put I had a look at voltage reg. and cleaned contacts it is the non adjustable one. Has anyone got any ideas as to what I should look out for.Should I get a new Battery first.

I have a 91 Kawasaki GT550 the engine of which is rattly. I replaced the timing chain with no improvement The noise reduces as the Engine warms up. It has been suggested to me that it is the Clutch Basket anyone have experience of this.

Hi Guys Thanks for info on your experiences . I saw on another site that a Strap around the Airbox and pulling back gives more room by 1/2".Fingers crossed as job progresses. Anyone have idea of cleaning parts in Sonic cleaner or is Carb cleaner enough.

I contacted Honda Ireland about problem but got no reply so I. sourced a Stator from the US for $90 Fitted it and all checks went well. My Son traded in the Blade for a 1200 Bandit and explained problems to the Dealer he was Happy to accept. To day 5 weeks later we got a letter from Honda to take the blade to them for inspection and they would replace Rotor and Stator free of charge  (A bit late) I wrote back explaining that my Son could not be without a Bike for that length of time without withdrawal symptoms. Thanks for all suggestions and help.

My 77 400/4 is running rich and plugs fail after a while I am going to remove Carbs (God help me) to clean and adjust them, is there a simple way to remove carbs. I have a small sonic cleaner but dont know what liquid to put in it to clean jets. I have the use of a vacuum set for synchronizing. Also the Timing chain is noisy and want to do a job on it at the same time and replace chain/guides/and adjusters can this be done with eng in frame. Any info appreciated.

Hi guys my Son is still having charging problems with his Blade We replaced the Stator and Reg but bike will only charge above 2K rpm. We are told to suspect the Rotor as these have a History. Honda gave an extended warranty with 04/05 Blades due to failing alternators, My son left his bike with a Honda Dealer and was assured the job was done. The Original Honda Service Bulletin states that both the Stator and Rotor be replaced and confirmed by a punch mark under the first letter of Vin. He checked with Honda and they informed him that the stator only had been replaced. He checked the Bike and there is no punch mark under the Vin, Honda say the extended warranty expired in 2011 but surely they should be responsable as one of their dealers did not comply with Honda Service Bulletin. Anyone got any ideas or experienced anything similar.
