The 550 is going well but Rick has a sore wrist from the heavy clutch on the 550.(the big girl)
Are 550 clutches normally heavy?
My 500 isnt as heavy as his but its a slightly different setup.
Its had a new clutch and cable fitted and the cable route seems fine

If the bolt is spinning around in the bottom of the stanchion or is mashed up,just drill the head off then pull apart.when u get it separated just take the remainder or the bolt out with pliers.

As my seat has a split I have stripped it down and to treat the rust, however I have found a couple of cracks. Do you you guys just weld them up or should I add some reinforcing strips across them?

While I'm here I've been looking at some Carb Refurb kits. Starting with DSS at £20 each or on eBay a kit of 4 for just under £30 from Japan. Is price just the difference?

Also on eBay an exhaust, original headers and collector if your interested. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-CB400-Four-genuine-OE-exhaust-system/391215284022?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D29975%26meid%3D713b278e83764ac79d58c3bc5325ed69%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D252042377563

I found the 550 stem on the btm yoke was shorter than the 400.i had to grind a bit off the bottom of the headstock to gain enough thread at the top.

Hello,

wow! that was quick! Thanks for all the replies. I was planning to use CB550 yokes to take the fork legs. Now, what's 35mm in imperial?

     Cheers, MikeJ
I done the same but it wasnt a straight swap.i had to get handy with the grinder to the headstock

Mike

700mm fully extended.

Hope that will help.

Daniel

[forgot, you're British: 27 9/16 inches] ;)

I second this Herr
Youre gonna need new yokes or hone your 33mm ones out though!
