CB750 / Oil bloody oil« on: August 31, 2014, 08:44:42 PM »
I have done about 2K on the K6 without any problems but now after a run (about 50-60) miles i get spots of oil on the finn below the head gasket but it has not run from there. it seems to have been blown i think and its on both sides
i use a quarter of a pint of oil in 150 miles. where is this coming from? does this mean my head gasket is shot? ![]() ![]() 80

well got it and did a few trial runs. first with the finish tabs (other good products are available)
and the it went a bit black, but after washing again with washing up liquid it went back to original. next tried a 1/4 pint of ultrasonic cleaner. did not go black but did not clean much oil off then tried dish washer cleaner from the pound shop and a little squirt of fairy. look for yourself. i think its good enough for painting. ![]() dirty ![]() clean. CB500/550 / Re: CB550K3 - Fork Springs - Which way up?« on: July 25, 2014, 08:21:53 AM »
my Little G5 had forks that were sticking. when i removed the mud guard, front wheel (with jack under engine) i slackened the triple clamps and as i turned the stanchions the end where the spindle was moving in a circular motion. meaning my forks were ever so slightly bent. it must have had a tap on the front end in its 30+ years.
i turned them til they both pointed forward the most tightend up and boom work great. i will replace when i can afford. not saying yours are the same but worth a check Billy 82

do you think it will get all the grime off the parts, if only enough to get clean enough for paint?

Ok so I have been caught using my wifes dishwasher with bits of my CB500T.
my question, i bought my own dishwasher for the garage would i do any harm if i put things like cylinder head (stripped obviously) has anyone tried things like a head and barrels in a dishwasher? would it warp it? Billy 84

removed the pipe and connected up the 4 over flows and bingo great acceleration all the way to 90ish just went to Swindon and back its like a different bike it idles smoothly also. billy, happy chappy 89
