I have a crudely shortened brake pedal which would be perfect for a rider with size 4 boot...however, I'm a size 11, so I'm looking for a replacement. Is the 550, in particular the 75 model, brake pedal compatible with my '71 k1. Thanks for any opinion.

Hi Ewan, You must have dropped lucky there. I have now bought two styles of clubman/cafe bars and I'm still not happy how they look. It would help greatly if you are able to measure yours for the width, rise, centre width and pullback of the bars, it may narrow my search for the perfect bars. Thanks in advance! Simon

Hi Ewan, Your Cafe conversion is looking really good and a great thread too. I like the clubman bars you are using and i'm trying to source something similar. I have researched these to death and all the stock bars don't drop enough and the pull is too wide for the look i want!... Are these a special or off the shelf? cheers.

I was hoping to buy decent front and rear hubs to refurb and add DSS rims and spokes and lace them up myself..which I've done once before and took 8 hours for truing...! But add to luck picked up a set on fleabag... already refurbed and described as immaculate from a guy in Washington Tyne and wear who was renovating a 500k and apparently lost interest to a BMW. I paid £390 which if as described iI will be happy with. I estimated about £200 a wheel to buy and refurb in any case. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks for all the comments and advice. They do take 6mm bolts however one has been cross threaded in the past....but this doesn't explain why all four are missing!! I will tap out the thread and refit...cheers guys

Cheers trigger, but why would this cover have the bolt modification without the actual bolts being in place... I take it they aren't essential on the later models either?

A simple question for members out there...is there a price range I should expect to pay or will it be stick to the mag wheels and not break the bank? Cheers for any replies.

Under the cam chain cover of my mid-renovation '72 500 k1, I have what appears to be four absent 6mm bolts. I've heard some models don't use them to hold the rocker shafts but these are threaded down and clearly was intended to hold bolts about 50 mm length. I've had her running under nil load, so confused as to why they are absent and how it runs apparently fairly smooth on tickover!! Any suggestions would be greatly received?

I have looked back over Stidds 550 cafe build using a 500t fuel tank and the finishing pics convinces me that this tank will give my build the lines I'm hoping for. Thanks for the reference.

....that they are still original though. I'm interested to know if your tank is playing a part in your 550/550 mongrel?
