The original fastening system has been more than sound on my 460 yoshi with 1/2 race cam and 26mm Amal carbs., more important is a heavy duty cam chain and heavy duty clutch springs, I have revved to 12000 rpm with them.

The 4 overflow pipes are held together in a small square plastic former? and drop down in front of the swinging arm.

Dealt with st/st all my working life, at all temperatures in many chemical situations and really extreme heat/cooling cycles can create seizure problems, however, my homemade 316 st/st exhaust studs were fitted in 1985 with no poroblems, the trouble is  with lesser quality of stainless bolts sold that are not 316 stainless.

I had the same problem with a "new" after market battery strap useless at only 3 months old and never left the garage, found a genuine honda one instead.

plus one----Loctite bearing fit is a very viable answer to "sliding fit" bearings, it is a well used and long life industrial alternative to more expensive machining.

The good old days, garage 2 stroke dispensing pump set at 20 to 1, two shots in tank, cost 12old pence,  with 2 gallons of leaded, 2s -10p, modern money 19p for 140 miles of smoky pleasure, on a bike you could crank over and off the wheels.

The old two stroke Ariel Arrow ran at 20 to one, 25 to one was considered a bit lean until the Japanese came along.

We used to sit on a pub wall near a roundabout on a main route to the seaside, and when the poor old scooter boys went past, we used to shout "get of and milk it", which just about summed up the ride quality of a scooter, but they ended up more popular in those days.
