CB750 / CB750F1 Luggage Rack
« on: March 26, 2017, 11:58:06 AM »
Just fired up the F1 and am considering a European trip.

Does anyone know which racks are suitable or easily adapted to suit?

CB500/550 / Re: What's my oil filter bolt got inside it?

I thought they couldn't do that because of the cut outs / flat bit / whatever the proper name is.

The tabs are just to accurately locate.

The shells are a "nip fit" in case/con rod, but if sufficient force applied due to seizure between bearing surface and crank journal, will rotate.

CB750 / Re: Oil Pump Priming +(again!)
« on: February 27, 2017, 06:02:02 PM »
I had a problem every time, despite priming and trying vaseline.

Only thing that worked was making up an adaptor using a tubeless car tyre valve in rubber pipe and pressurising oil tank via the breather.

With plugs removed was able to get oil pressure light out before starting

I believe Motor Cycle repairers can order pistons and seals by dimension from  Hi Level

CB750 / Re: How to get Oil pressure
« on: June 18, 2016, 10:00:34 AM »
On my last 3 CB750 rebuilds I had to pressurise the oil tank using a modified tubeless tyre valve in breather pipe before I could get pressure before starting.

The last one I tried vaseline and primed all pumps submerged in oil !

It always feels better if you can see the light go out before actually starting :)

CB750 / Re: Piston Rings - Which make?

I'm just assuming it needing valve springs - havn't stripped head down yet but just doing pre-buying research.
Ref pistons - what your proffesional opinion on IMD pistons?

I always check the free length of valve springs is within spec in manual.

There is an arguement that parts that have little or no appreciable wear and have given good service are a better bet than repro parts.

The exception is rings and rubber parts

CB750 / CB750 F1 Fork Length
« on: April 15, 2016, 04:31:52 PM »
Looking at my forks on my latest F1 restoration I see they are lightly pitted.

Philpotts will rechrome and grind for £175 all in but I wanted to make sure I have the correct stanchions.

The ones that came were in bits and measure approx 578 mm long.

I see that the DS ones are £94 inc vat each for repro.

Does anyone have the factory spec for length or experience of the repro ones?

Offer- Acceptance - Consideration

These are the main requirements for a contract to be formed.

However, as advised, probably best not to persue providing you get your deposit back.

Looks like you can remove head/cylinders in situ, but may need lots of seat padding  ;D
