CB350/400 / Rear chainguard Question
« on: April 08, 2018, 03:42:09 AM »
Does anyone know if the rear chainguard round plate that is riveted to the original sprocket from any other models fits the 400 four as I would like to fit one but they seem rather hard to come by.

Thanks for that, I managed to get one from another Honda it looks to be the exact horn without the plastic cover, a lot of the Hondas from the 80s and 90s use the Mitsuba MB-E so I got a good one for a tenner of ebay.

Misc / Open / No MOT required
« on: March 31, 2018, 10:04:42 PM »
As of May this year Historic vehicles wont require a valid MOT, but beware. The only thing about the MOT is if you have an accident the insurance will use it as an excuse to hold back from paying out, I have heard several stories from boys with pre 1960's vehicles and the first thing the insurance asks is do you have a valid MOT even though it is not required by law, I now have 3 bikes that don't require an MOT shortly and due to the amount of money tied up in them I think it would be prudent to get them MOT ed as then there are no arguments about  them being roadworthy.  As you know insurance companies will do anything to avoid paying out, how many old rusty land rovers and ex farm vehicles that haven't been on the road for 15 years do you think are going to get pulled out and taxed, the insurance companies will not differentiate between these and a motor cycle that has been pampered. There is also the bike that has had a lot of money spent on it and looks good but has been put together by someone whose Engineering skills are maybe not as good as they think, think of the bikes you have bought that look good and when you look close they are death traps.

I sent my collectors to Agbrigg and I have received it back after 2 1/2 weeks which is very quick I have not seen it yet but my friend who received it said it is good apart from there is a couple of light stains on the inside which should polish out but cant be seen anyway which should be expected on a 40 year old pipe , I will have a better look when I get back from offshore and report.

While checking my wiring on the rebuild I noticed that my ignition switch was connected to the loom with 5 individual spade connectors, this would have originally been a multi plug does anyone know if I can buy the correct one of these plugs to fix it to the switch.
