If the helicoil pulls out you can search keensert or timesert which have a bigger outside diameter

You will have big problems if you declare it an import as you will need HMRC to say duty was paid, there are other ways but it depends on the year being before computerised documents. when i find my ID book i can give you an idea of age

If you check the specs on the can against your handbook the diesel is nearest and has additives that help the gearbox

No upgreade to front brake I'm afraid, just make sure it's all free and working properly.

Engine oil--Tesco own brand 15W40 Diesel mineral oil, Brake fluid ordinary Dot 3

Tyres are a problem due to the odd sizes on the 400, Try Metzeler or Continental

Moral Yes, Legal Hmmmmmm, but no tell no know!!!.

Honda always stamped a number on a production frame but not on a Parts frame so you could try saying thats its been rebuilt into a replacement NOS frame. DVLA would be able to trace the engine number but the only people they will do it for is Plod and remember if the bike is knicked and plod get at it you loose the bike and your money mate

If i can find my genuine Honda workshop manual it may tell me where to look for the number

I think the clutch cover apparent shape could be shadow and I know the 550 US had different striping to the 500(with gold in it) but i would have to go and get out my NOS Boss maroon Mettalic one to be certain what it should be.

The US 550 had 374 exhaust pipes but the only difference to the 323 ones, to the best of my knowledge, is a load of "blurb" rolled into the inside edge about not changing the exhaust or you break federal rules---again I could go and get one out and photo it if i couls be arsed!!

All in all, personally I think it went way over the top and as Oddjob said for that money should be 100% original and perfect

You won't get "kits" you will have to source the seals/covers seperately

500/550 k0-K2 screw onto the headlamp brackets, 550K3 have long nuts/bolt heads on the headlamp mountings and they fit there.

Both reflectors and rubber bases are still available except for the 500 Ko which were smaller
