Drew,
Photos of locations of Battery Caution, Tyre Information and Safety Information labels attached.
Photo of Helmet Holder label already in a previous post (have you found the label?).
If you want measurements I will try and oblige.
Have I missed any?

Drew,
Just been browsing around (as you do) and came across this post on the US forums:
http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=135175.0
Seems the fuse box is not unique to the 400/4 - I didn't know that but you may have.
Might mean you can widen your search for the part though.

CB350/400 / Re: Tank retaining rubber - anyone got a photo?

Whoops, messed up the previous post. Meant to have several attachments showing position of lugs
etc so you can check yours aren't bent. Try these.

Classics and Chrome in Hinckley, Leics (http://www.classicsandchrome.co.uk/) have been recommended by
AshimotoK0 elsewhere on these forums. I have a rack with them for plating at the moment - it helps that they
are local to me. They show a BSA Bantam exhaust in the gallery on their web site so can obviously cope with
exhaust systems. May be worth a look.

Here's some more, from a different angle. The rubber is tight to get over the lug on the tank, probably even more so with a brand new one.

Here's a pic showing the location of the label for the helmet holder:

My bike has a thin bracket on the nearside, probably what you can see in the parts book. It is a guide for the wiring to the rear lamp.

Definitely only one hole each side on my frame. Can't check the indicator mounts as the rear indicators on my bike were on straight stalks.

The holes look a bit big for the mounts trigger suggested, as I recall the mounting screw size for those was only something like M5.

Could have been holes for a rack support. If you still have it were there corresponding holes in the rear mudguard, otherwise the holes would be 'blind'.

Oh, and did you win that fuse box lid?

Other Bikes / Re: Anyone know which model these crash bars fit?
« on: February 22, 2015, 05:50:11 PM »
From size and shape it looks like they are for the rear of something, a bit like these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Yamaha-RD250-400-D-E-F-1978-1979-Rear-Safety-Crash-Bars-gh-/151546626607?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item2348e2022f
With suitable brackets I guess they may fit whatever you like.

Those on my 9000 mile 400 F2 are silver / stainless and I believe they are the originals.

The clips Drew suggests look the business - closer to the original type and much better than jubilee clips.
If / when you order can you post price details here please Julie. It would be interesting to see how they
compare in that respect to the DSS items or jubilees.

Misc / Open / Re: Ebay purchase - help & advise pls
« on: February 16, 2015, 09:19:03 PM »

Very glad to read he'll have to pay ebay regardless... 15% is it?... a tidy sum as you say Peter. I too saw the previous negative feedbacks.... and just hope ebay give me enough character spaces to fully 'do my worst'. And thanks Bryan, will stick to facts rather than being emotive.

I'll wait until the deposit is back in my bank, and then complain to ebay / write a few choice words for his future clients to see.

Ho hum...
Simon

Sadly it won't cost him that much as eBay Motors fees are under a different structure - £10 to list as an auction then only 1% of final value. No justice.

Just make sure you use the meagre 80 characters you get for feedback wisely, once you have your deposit back!

Misc / Open / TEC Shocks and Mount Width
« on: February 14, 2015, 10:46:42 AM »
I have just bought some rear shocks for my CB400/4 from TEC Bike Parts (www.tecbikeparts.com/Home_Page.html) - their stuff seemed
to have decent reviews so I thought I'd give them a try. I found the top mount for the new shocks is narrower than the mount on the bike.

When I queried this I was told that "we use industry standard 21mm width mounts, some years of Honda have 25mm mounts. Usually all
you need to do id add some 16mm id washers to space them". I'm sure this will work, and is probably what I will end up doing.

My mounts are 25mm and those on my CB250 G5 also appear to be 25mm although I haven't actually removed the shocks to check.
I haven't come across this 'industry standard 21mm' stuff before and was wondering firstly what width the mounts are on other models of
bike, and secondly whether anyone else has had anything from TEC and what they thought of it.

Thanks in advance for comments.

CB350/400 / Re: Carb float settings - advice please
« on: February 14, 2015, 10:00:12 AM »
I found exactly the same as Clem, working with the carbs on end proved the easiest way. I used small pieces of masking tape to stop pins dropping out.

I made a template from a piece of an old plastic carton. I think there is a post or a link in a post on these forums somewhere that suggests that.

I also used a workmate to hold the carbs in an upright position. Rest the carbs on the metal frame part then gently clamp to hold in place.

Have to agree with the comment about bronze rims, I too think it would look good.

Usual finishes seem to be mainly either chrome or black, bronze would be that bit different.

Thanks Julie. It might prompt me into making an order!

Thanks Drew. Can't see any on there now, you must have had the only one!

DSS list the part if you search by part number, and give the part number that superseded the original, but currently out of stock.
Maybe I'll add it to the list of bits to buy when I make up an order - perhaps they'll have some by then.
