I fitted the OEM shocks from my CB750F2 to my commuter CB550F1 & it made quite a differance to the handling & extra ground clearance ![](http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv23/WiNot_Rhencullen/Honda%20750/My%20bikes/My750028.jpg) At one time I fitted some CB900FZ shocks to my 550F1 but they were too long so went back to the 750F2 shocks ![](http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv23/WiNot_Rhencullen/Honda%20750/My%20bikes/My750033.jpg) I have these Koni shocks for sale (£80 +p&p) ![](http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv23/WiNot_Rhencullen/Snaps/Honda-Konishocks.jpg) Not sure what they are eye-to-eye but they were from one of my CB550Fs

I had a black 550K3 ![](http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv23/WiNot_Rhencullen/Honda%20750/My%20bikes/BikesBikesBikes171-1.jpg) It was my commuter bike when I had to give up my company car in a new job. but as soon as I changed jobs again together with a company car, I sold the K3 to a born again biker...who now owns a new Yamaha R1

I sold the family CB550F2 for £1800 (including a brand new DSS replica seat which I didn't get around to fitting) & the new owner loves it

The tail unit looks like that from Bimota ![](http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv23/WiNot_Rhencullen/Bikes/Bimota1.jpg) But the side panel looks more like CB900FZ The handlebars are Laverda Jota and the fairing looks more like D'Holda than Dresda

My first bike was a '72 CB125s & I used to ride 13,000 a year commuting to Navy College, rides out, running around & generally having fun. But after riding bigger bikes I sold the 125 to a friend who passed his bike test & went on to become a bike cop.
Goodness knows where LMD 58 K is now...most probably in bits somewhere...

I may well have a spare CB550 horn. It's not a chrome one like on the F1 or F2. I'll look for it & post back...

I fitted twin discs to my commuter 550F1 & they made the world of differance. I also drilled the discs & used a set of Vesrah pads on one side & Ferodo pads in the other caliper. This was so that, in the rain it would act like a single disc but in the dry like twin discs. I used a standard 550F2 master cylinder with Aeroquip lines feeding to both calipers directly from the splitter under the headlight. Sorry I can't post up any pics atm but photobucket say I need to upgrade my account as i've used all of my bandwidth this month

As others have suggested, a thin smear of Blue Hylomar is a good idea. I've been using this stuff for over 38 years of engine building & have never had any problems & still use the stuff for many modern engines.

So as to keep weight to a minimum I have a 12v 5ah rated battery fitted to my Exup1000. It does start the bike okay & so long as I give the bike a good run it'll start okay after a few hours leaving the bike to cool down. I found this website quite useful for battery dimensions & for buying batteries from http://www.tayna.co.uk/Motorcycle-Batteries-C7.htmlPrompt delivery as well

I fitted CBX1000Z forks & shocks to my CB750F2 & kept the standard sidestand without any problems. It did lean over more but not dramatically.

I always found that the best sprockets were OEM when I had my 750F2 and 550s. The quality of some pattern stuff was not that good.
As for chains, the 630 size on my 750F2 was quite large & so the prices of new chains reflected this. One chain that I regret buying was one thrown together by Regina. Although an 'O' ring chain, it stretched so much within 1800 miles that I had to replace it. In the end I bought one made by Izumi which was OEM for GS100s at the time. This was on the bike until the big smash.

I had Boyer-Bransden electronic ignition on my CB750F2 & the only time that I ever had problems with it was when I binned the bike on the right side & the Rickman engine bars bent & partially severed one of the two wires going from the points side up to the wiring loom by the removeable engine mount by the clutch cover. I never suspected that as a fault until one day it wouldn't run on all four at all. I buzzed through from the ignition back plate to the end of either the yellow or the blue wire...I forget which as it was back in the late '70s, & lo & behold I found the break. I bought a second hand shrouded pair from a breakers & that was it...sorted.
At one time I visited the small factory of Boyer-Bransden when they were situated near to my work at Elmers End. They said that in the vast majority of situations it was a connector problem with their system & not a fault of the black boxes themselves. In all of the years that I had it fitted to my 750 it was faultless.
