It depends on whether your 550 is an F or a K.
The kickstarts are different on each model.

Anything is possible with electronics and coils can fire happily outside but fail under compression, how can it possibly be OK to run a 9volt coil at 12volts continuously!

Had that the other day on a Triumph, lovely spark but, no spark under compression.

if u use the standard 400 wheel i think there may be an issue with fitting an extra disc plus the speedo drive.i assume  u are gonna use the 400n fork legs too.
I swapped the whole front end from a k3 550.

Yep,i think the 400n is a straight swap,or u could choose the 550 front end which is a bit more work.
With the 400 n  u may have to use the comstar wheels though!

Trigger mentioned the pivot arm,is it inline with the disc before fitting the pads?

No i didnt do anything with the idle jet but i suspect i ought to.
I just turned up the idle speed to about 1600rpm.
