Don't know about booming as money is tight for most of us, but I certainly wouldn't hang about if the right bike came up and I was in the market. I mean even if it turned out to be a clunker, as long as the price was right it would be worth it for spares bearing in mind the price of those too!

OK LynBrook want £121 so basically the same price. Again no NCD which is galling, don't understand that at all. So for £4 I may as well stay with Nash.
Have tried other sites this morning and they all see to think my bike is a VT700 Shadow ?!?!?! so I have run out of patience and options!

Hmm, beginning to look like I am stuck with Nash! its just galling when you think you are being ripped off!
Will try Lynbrook, but if its £90 for TPF&T my £125 for fully comp is looking good. Have tried the usual comparison sites and they don't list sohc CB750s at all. Tried 'Be wiser' who just quoted £161 fully comp so its not looking good.
As a matter of interest although its a Classic insurance I AM covered for commuting as I do use my F1 for that.

Nice weather huh? could get bike out of garage if I wanted to, and I am in the 'warm south'!
Anyhow, my insurance is due, am currently with the inevitable Carole Nash and they charged me £125 last year, which I though OK (ish) as I had no no claims. This year they want to charge me exactly the same. When I called them they told me their 'Classic' insurance doesn't have no claims discount! ( nice of them to tell me before ) the nice lady told me all policies I would be able to get would be the same, but then she would wouldn't she.
So before I start asking various members of the african rodent population etc etc, who are you guys with? and does anyone get a no claims discount?

Had similar on my F1 after its rebuild. I don't have electronic ignition but it turned out to be loose connectors in the points wires where they join the loom near the rear brake switch, the wires are a bit tight and can pull out easily. Worth checking if your electronic system still uses these wires.

In the computer world we term this 'vapour ware'
Was gonna cancel my order but I'm kinda intrigued just how long this will go on!

Think its loads of things! Theres definitely a 'joy' in getting something working well by the sweat of your brow ( and flipping great wodges of cash ) but also the power is addictive too, then theres scratching round a corner, feeling 19 again ( well in some ways ) doing something you really shouldn't be ( at my age I should know better etc ) and growing old disgracefully. Then, of course, there is comradeship. There ain't no cure for biking once its in your blood.

Know what you mean Bitsa, not been using my F1 over this winter as I have a car space at work, but took her out for her first real blast last weekend, that grin is involuntary isn't it? never had that in a car.
The spares do sounds real cool!

Did exactly the same thing on my F1 during the rebuild my carbs were found to be so gummed up with what looked and felt like sandstone that the decision to replace them was easy, I would go the e-bay route. However, for interest, and in case you don't find any for a while I did post on the US site and apparently some have had some success using an epoxy like JB Weld. Its not a stressed part really ( till you try and remove the pin ) so its only a matter of whether fuel will affect it, apparently its OK. Could be worth a try if you are stuck. Would keep an eye on it though

Am currently using Avon Squaremaster rear and Avon Speedmaster(!) ribbed front ( for extra pleasure ) and have no complaints, haven't done enough miles to really comment on life tho. I have heard elsewhere that non ribbed front tyres can cause handling issues causing the bike to 'wander', have never had anything else ( even back in the day ) so can't really comment, but as I say, no complaints as yet. Worth bearing in mind tho that if you are throttle happy a 750 is theoretically able to exceed the speed rating for these tyres ( I'm OK tho coz although the bike can, I most definitely can't )

Aha, hadn't thought of that, wonder if this is the problem. I fitted a new stainless piston which don't have that cover that the plastic washer sits on, so you can see into the piston's interior just like on a car, but of course cars have shims etc I effectively have nothing but copper grease twix piston and pad. Rear is fine but of course that has shims too. Doubt I can fit the standard cover as there is no step inside the piston. perhaps I will attempt to make a shim if I can stop it flying out!

Looking cool Andy, Like the silver, gives an almost monochrome look and goes well with the wheels / forks. Might the side panels look good silver too? Saved some weight with the silencer!

OK, thanks guys.
Am inclined to think its the material so will replace with a different type and see how we go. Adjustment of brake is OK so it can only be material or bedding in. I usually bed mine in carefully and don't use them hard until the sponginess has gone as I heard that hard use might 'Glaze' the pads surface and cause squeals but despite that mine still does it so who knows!
Haven't ridden a modern bike but I can imagine the difference!

Yeah I know, they all do that! but mine is causing the local cat population to stampede and shattering windows within a 5 mile radius.
I have el cheapo brake pads fitted ( dunno make - threw package away but I got them from Wemoto ) and coated the backs with brake copper grease
Anyone had any success in improving this? different pads? shims? cutting grooves? don't use the grease?
I know roughening the pad surface stops it, but only for a little while, and at this rate I will be replacing pads rather more regularly than I had anticipated!
