Hi to the group.  Looking forward to learning a lot about my CB550.  Had the bike a while but just prepping it for the road and keen to use it a lot more.  Purchased the K3 about 8 years ago and not done many miles.....yet..!!  Already had some help wit( my first question so thanks for that.

I have 2 other bikes, a 1992 CBR1000 which I bought new and is still my regular ride....I say regular, I don’t put many miles on at the moment but hoping to do more.  The other bike is a Triumph 500 twin....the baby Bonneville.  That’s stored atm but again want to aim to get that running by next spring.

I have had bikes all my adult like after being influenced by my older brother who had a succession of old British bikes that spent more time being fixed than ridden.... :) Didn’t put me off and my first job was as an apprentice bike mechanic with a dealership in South London....Elite Motors....anyone remember them...??

Anyway enough of me rambling on.....

Mick

Thanks Jeremy.  I have looked very closely and can’t see any marker next to the terminals on the coils.  Like yours I got two small looms to connect the coils to the main bike loom....and mine have the bullets on ready to go..!

Thanks again.....👍

CB500/550 / David Silver Ignition Coils

Hi, only just joined the forum so apologies is this is a repeat question....I did search but couldn’t find anything on this so here goes.....

I have a pair of new coils for my CB550K3 purchased from David Silver a few years back.  They are marked with the cylinder feeds 1-4 and 2-3 but the low tension connectors on both coils have no labels....I would usually expect a + and a -.  My question is which connector connects to which wire on the loom....there is a black and white (common to both coils) and a blue for one coil (cyl 1/4) and a yellow for the other (cyl 2/3).  My assumption, as the connectors on the new coils aren’t marked is that it doesn’t matter.....but would appreciate confirmation or otherwise of that before connecting up.  Thank you.
