CB750 / First impressions
« on: Today at 11:51:11 AM »
Took my 750F out for a spin after fitting the new Delkevic 4-1,not as noisy as I anticipated so good news, runs ok with just few pops/bangs on over run.Carbs leak through overflow could do with clean/balance,Tyres need replacing rear brake better than I expected front brake crap as I expected all electrics work ok,24,000 miles on speedo but no idea if it’s accurite engine fasteners look original,Seat needs recovering/new trim, fuel tank needs repaint, few hours tidying up and I’ll have a nice bike for the summer.Still want a K7 so not sure if I’ll hang on to it for long

I wouldn’t mind a 400 SD myself, wouldn’t want to pay more than £1500 for one though.Have a butchers on the SD forum friendly bunch and lots of knowledge
Just looked at pictures and it’s a kickstart/early model worth bit more,I don’t think it should have reflectors on the headlight ears usualy reflector on downtube that holds cables too, looks fairly original see if it has the original Honda exhaust collector box or has it a cheap box section or cheap replica that are all over Fleabay at mo could be pattern exhaust?

Delkevic arrived today, bit of head scratching fitting it lol. Brackets that came with it labeled as 1 bag=Zephyr 1100/CB1100F 1 bag=XJR1300/FJ1200.Only way I can see to fit it securely is to make something up.Too dark to carry on have another go tomorrow

Nice 400 SD went for around £1400 on Fleabay couple weeks ago,lot of rubbish around ie not original as claimed, pay more for a 400 than the more common 250.They’re starting to creep up a bit in value I sold a mint 8,000 mile 250 couple years ago for £1500.David Silvers in Ipswich?

I remember when they were launched over here,I thought of buying one as a near neighbour had bought one but still into Brit bikes and wouldn’t buy Jap crap🤭🤭Lol. I bought a new Bonne instead.I’ll refer to it as a 750F

I know Honda and other marque exhausts rotted very quickly in the day, nicely repaired there.Delkevic arrives today, thinking I might like to do a mild cafe racer job on the bike and hang on to it.Still fancy a butt ugly K7 lol.

Guy I bought the bike from told me it was a model 750 F0 but I believe it should be referred to as a 750 F. Who is correct? Not that it matters lol.

I would leave carbs in situ take tops and bowls off and squirt carb cleaner in and blow out with air line.I replaced the cross head bolts with 4mm stainless hex socket caps for easier removal/refitting
