Member 4 Sales / 1972 UK 500/4 for sale
« on: May 15, 2018, 09:01:13 AM »
Time for "Goldie" to go...

Off the road since I moved house two years ago. The removal men insisted that I drain the tank. I broke the filler cap latch and it hasn't seen any fuel since.

Was running nicely but leaked fuel from #4 carb.

There are a few other bits that need attention but it shouldn't take much for a dedicated SOHCer :)

UK bike on a K plate. 37k miles.

Looking for £3.5k

PM for details if interested

I don't want to cause offense here but there have been some instances of members putting stuff on ebay and linking it here.

If you want to offer your old parts to other members of this forum, please include an asking price and make sure that members here get a chance to talk to you about it before you list it on ebay.

Links to ebay auctions will be removed :(

Ad will be removed after 90 days.

Site Feedback / FAQ / How to... / TapaTalk Chat
« on: September 14, 2017, 10:29:25 AM »
This has been irritating me for a while.

A while back, "Chat" appeared on the TapaTalk App without notice and with no way of the forum admin removing it.

The chat works on THEIR system via THEIR app. THEY moderate it (apparently).

Our members tend to "chat" on the forum :) or by PM so all I can ask is please don't use it (or only if you understand that it is a third party application and nothing to do with

Announcements / New Forum Sponsor

I am pleased to announce that Marcel den Butter at has agreed to be our new forum sponsor.

Marcel is a long-time member on here. His username is "Lecram" (Marcel backwards...) and I'm sure that many of you will have done business with him in the past.

I filched the logo from his Facebook page - we will see if we can get a better fit in the future.

Misc / Open / So how many 400/4s are there really on here? [Poll]

I'm worried that we may be being overrun...

The site was offline this morning from approx 0845 to 1030 due to a power outage at the datacentre.

The hosting company are apologetic and have vowed to understand why their various levels of power backup didn't work :)

Site Feedback / FAQ / How to... / Adverts???
« on: September 13, 2016, 09:09:39 AM »
This morning I had an email from Tapatalk advising that they had sent me $5 by PayPal as part of the monetization of the site.

I don't remember ever setting this up and would certainly have disable ads if I had known.

I don't get ads on Tapatalk though. Does anyone else?

Has anyone ever clicked on a link that took them to a commercial site?

Before I turn it off, I'd like to understand how I have managed to "earn" $5  :)

Misc / Open / Solar powered lamps in remote garage - question for Ash?
« on: September 13, 2016, 09:03:14 AM »
In my new house I have a garage in a block. It's not far away (about 50m) but I cannot dig up the tarmac and lay a power cable.
I'm thinking of solar power and LED lamps.
Anyone any experience with these low-power panels and the battery chargers that come with them?
There are plenty available from Maplin, Amazon etc - I want one that will last a good while and power 6 to 8 LED lamps (of about 5W each)
