Keihin carb float adjustment

Can anyone confirm that when adjusting the float height on Keihins you measure from this notch

Yes - 26 mm from that notch to the float...

Sweet. I know the fuel air mix changes about 1% for each mm, but a few of my floats are a little bent and whilst I’ve bent them back and taken measurements from either side of the float on one or two there’s still a half mm difference can’t seem to get the perfectly true - is this anything to worry about?

No I personally wouldn't witty about that. Within 1mm is fine.

What WILL give you problems though is using jubilee clips on the rubbers, giving rise to mysterious air leaks and erratic running. Always best to use the proper clips.
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

Very good point this. Also, in my experience, the aftermarket carb to engine intake rubbers have a smaller OD compared to the Honda OE parts - meaning the original Honda clips provide zero clamping force as the screw bottom out before the grip the rubber. Always better to go for Honda parts here if at all possible.

This is interesting. I bought gen honda rubbers and used the original clips and also found that they “bottomed out” quite easily although they did give some clamping before bottoming, i concluded that this was how they should be.... I later read in CMM magazine that the honda expert (is it mark haycock?) who is doing a usa k2 restoration bought aftermarket rubbers, encountered this issue, bought genuine honda instead and found them to be exactly the same.... so his solution was to pack the clamp with strips of something or other, sounds a bit messy to me.
