This is interesting. I bought gen honda rubbers and used the original clips and also found that they “bottomed out” quite easily although they did give some clamping before bottoming, i concluded that this was how they should be.... I later read in CMM magazine that the honda expert (is it mark haycock?) who is doing a usa k2 restoration bought aftermarket rubbers, encountered this issue, bought genuine honda instead and found them to be exactly the same.... so his solution was to pack the clamp with strips of something or other, sounds a bit messy to me.
