069a Carbs and replacements?
« on: June 10, 2020, 05:59:52 PM »
Hi all. I believe my 550F2 has 069a's. First question is does anyone know where I can get a #40 pilot jet as mine snapped in situ? Boy are they a bugger to get out 😲

Secondly does anyone have a spare set of carbs the would sell?

And finally,  I've heard cb750 carbs fit and will need rejected. Which other bikes carbs fit, same inlets etc?

David Silvers are sold out of all 550 carb kits who I believe is everyone's second port of call after here 😁

A custom bike with pods will need a custom carb kit, no good looking at a standard kit  ;)

Weird as the 550 had 38 pilot jets not 40. 500 had the 40 pilots, 100 main and the 550 38 pilots and 98 mains.

500 are straight bolt on, the jets interchange with the 550 ones no problem. Visually identical but very minor internal mods.

Now this is getting scary 😲 pilots are certainly 40s. Haven't checked mains yet. With someone mentioning kickstart looked like 500, minds in overdrive here 😂

Sometimes people change things because they think it's needed. 550s use 38 pilots, next one readily available would be the 500s 40 jets, won't hurt it TBH and may just help a little. Don't worry about it.

Kickstart on the 550 was bigger than needed so I can see why the 500 would look more attractive, lighter, smaller and TBH just looks better. If you didn't need the hinging feature I'd have changed it as well

All makes sense Odsjob, thanks 👍

I'll stop panicking when I find a new #40 pilot jet, any ideas?

Typical Trigger 😂 Just ordered one from david silver. No idea if correct one or not though as everything else I tend to order is incorrect. Can I purchase one of yours also please as sure you'll have the right ones. I'm going to hoard all these wrong parts and sell them for millions in years to come 😂

Yes, mine are the same so, no point me sending you a slow when you have one coming  ;)

Have you just bought this bike, built it yourself or was it built by a custom shop ?

Many moons ago I built engines for a famous custom bike building company and they used to give a copy of the build pictures to the customer but, they would never give a copy of the parts list to build the bike/trike. This was done so if you needed a part you would have to return to them as, you could never figure out what parts from what bike were fitted.

I'd still like a spare please.

Bought in January privately.  Few things needed sorted brakes and carbs. Done the front brakes so now onto carbs. It's an interesting tale I shall regale at some point as it's been a chop from late  70s👍
