Like most of my stuff my dinner suit is from a time before retirement when I wasn’t an impoverished pensioner hiding in the garage floundering through old bike rebuilds. When’s  the start up Roo ? it’s surprising what one knackered thread can do….
500/4 in 79. No bikes for 30 years. 750/4 in 2013, 550/4 in 2023. Also own  R1100GS, RD350LC YPVS , Triumph Street Triple, Yamaha XT250

Hoping to have a go tmrw evening but got a fairly busy day so might not get in the shed til late on. The river Avon is looking mighty fine as the colour drops out of it after the rains so might bob down and have a try for a barbel. See how we get on. Fingers crossed it doesn’t all go horribly wrong on start up but I’m pretty sure it’s on the button. We’ll see

I will Dave if my technical ability stretches that far
I’ve all on pressing the right button to spell a word right so not promising but see how I go

Bought another VTEC yesterday and rode it back from Pompey. It’s a crash damage jobby, just needs a nose cone and a nanny and it’ll be going up on the net for a quick flip. Hopefully a couple of quid in it to fund the paint and a few bits on the 550 to finish it off as I’ve run out of dosh at the min to get it all buttoned up. Been an expensive year so far!

Had the heads up from a pal so went for a look yesterday and snapped it up. The chap had a sub 30mph get off and decided at 62 he shouldn’t be riding bikes anymore.

Charcoal grey, 59 plate with 37k on the clock. Aftermarket cans and a few other mods, new tyres, 11 months ticket ands service done in June but a clean bike and rides lovely.

Not as fast as mine though, I was quite surprised but mine has been breathed on mind

More progress this evening for just a couple of hours. It’s routing everything to get it all to fit which is taking the time. Fuel injection on, filter in, lid on and buttoned up. Cool beans and strangely satisfying

Hope to get the exhaust tackled tmrw with a bit of luck and we’ll have a test fire possibly Thursday all being well and the amount of shed time I can organise. Still getting there.

Oh, nearly forgot; the only bolt that necked off in the disassembly process; although there’s no mention of it in the manual and appears to be the only one on the bike………is a left hand thread of all things! Who knew??

No mention of it anywhere in-the workshop manual or the Haynes liar but on the parts fiche as I discovered when ordering a replacement. It’s one of the centre stand bolts

Had a bit of a projectile vomit weekend from something I’d eaten last week but feeling slightly less pale and wan now thankfully. Throwing up and diabetes isn’t an easy weekend
Makes you terribley
 short tempered!

Anyway hope to get back on it tonight with most jobs done now, just hanging everything off the motor like pegs, swingarm, all that and if there’s any adjustments required to timing etc I can do it with the lump in the frame now. It just needs dropping to whip the rear head off as needed.

The pipe’s on though which is a huge and fiddly job so that’s a win. Brown jobs needed around the house today then shed of dreams tonight for me

Keep going Roo, the end really is in sight and the weather looks good for the shakedown runs (that's the bike, not another illness for you) 👍
