Quick update - another mini project within this project!

I was originally planning on using a good quality GL1000 master cylinder for my project, however...

The original CR750 master cylinder was a different part than any street models, it had an angled reservoir and a bigger bore/output to handle the twin disk set-up.

It is hard to see in the ACU homologation files, and from this image of the late Tommy Robb:






I managed to borrow a genuine CR750 master cylinder for a few days (magnesium), 3D scanned this and have started the process of reverse engineering it. The cap is slightly different as well! I will likely use genuine GL1000 valving within the custom body, so that it can be rebuilt if needed in the future.

Erm.....mind boggling to say the least! Your attention to detail is amazing.
So the big question is....how are you going to make it, from solid, 3D printing, casting?
Please keep a photographic record as this will be interesting to see👍

Hi Dave,

This part will be machined from aluminium most likely. No real need to cast this part it as the post machining set-up is quite complex and the quantities are well - very low! I have had some DMLS parts produced before, however the same post machining challenges come into play (and sometimes poposity!). I will keep the thread updated as things progress.

Ted - I wish, I think it may have been a little quicker if AI was involved and hopefully with a few more mistakes!

I think Alan Millyard would have hacksawed the reservoir off the Gold Wing master cylinder and welded it back at the angle he wanted. Saying that, the man seems to have no fear of knackering stuff up permanently

Odd job, Allen does some brilliant work, that approach would certainly be an easier route however I want this to be super tidy which I don’t feel I could achieve that way.

A good friend of mine passed on some photographs and 3D drawings of the original fairing fasteners, which will be used for the top three on the bracket above:






These will be CNC machined soon alongside some other parts - for my build

The Honda CB1300 uses a very similar bolt. Doesn't have a slot though, has an allen key fitting. They are used to hold the side panels on. Just an idea, I doubt you'd be interested as it's not original but it would be a lot easier.

Oddjob, I have just had a look at these - as you say they are close - thanks for the link.

For this build - it is the slotted head that I am after, I have had a few sample parts in that are close however they just don't quite fit for what I am after,
