Hi From another Newbie

Hi Folks,
I have just retired, having reached that magical age;the 1st thing I did was to have another mid-life crisis!
My favorite mechanical things are air cooled :- Porsche 911's, Manx Norton's and Skydiving.
But now there's a new kid on the street or in my garage to be exact (I've just bought a 1974 candy gold CB750K2) just like the one I had in the mid 70's. This one however rattles like anything!) so I've got a bit of work to do before I can get it back out on the road.
I'm looking forward to meeting and talking to you all and I've no doubt seeking advise and help.

Welcome to the Forum. We love a new mid life crisis on here, most of us have them quite regularly which usually results in buying another bike
Have fun.

Welcome, there's loads of people on here with 750s and lots of expert advice. I think you need to narrow down where the rattling is emanating from; top end, bottom end, clutch, wife's earrings, that sort of thing.
BTW we like photos on here - saves us having to fork out for bike magazines.

Thanks for your welcoming replies,
The rattling is coming from the primary chain, I went underneath the engine, removed the sump cover and found the measurement from engine casting to plate on chain tensioner was 7.2cm. The chains also has a lot of sideways movement.
The speedo says 17k only,
so how come the chain is that worn?
How many miles do you really think the engine has done?
and lastly Is there anyone out there who can recommend a shop/good quality bike fitter to change the chains for me? ((I live in Walthamstow NE London)
However I will tackle the job myself, spanner in one hand and manual in the other, but don't have experience of working on engines of this quality and complexity.
The engine is now ready to come out
At the end of the day, I did not buy this bike to pull it apart and mess about with it.
With the sun shinning as much as it is today, I want to get out and ride It!
I will post pictures as soon as my son or wife shows me how!!

I build Honda engines, specialising in SOHC's and this is not a easy job to do. The whole engine has to be stripped down to get to the chains, and while your that far in, you may as well do the cam chain and all the tensioner. I did have a email from Honda last week, advising that the primary chain tensioner is now a discontinued part.
