Joint Photographic Experts Group designed this 25 years ago. You can compress a digital image by a factor of 10 with little discernible loss of quality.

The file extension is normally .jpg but I see that .jpeg is used at times. I will add it to the list - can’t do it at the moment as I’m using my phone

Thanks Steve, I don’t know why it’s suddenly become a problem, I’ve sent photos to my email and back to my phone to reduce the file size many times before and they have always uploaded to the forum no problem, maybe an update on my phone or email has altered things?.
