CB750K vs CB750A points plate and advance mechanism- Interchangeable?

<< < (2/2)

Yamahawk:
I see!. This would either due to the weights being lighter with the same strength springs, or stiffer springs, or both. Would it advance sooner if we swapped the stock springs back into the 333 advance bit? I used to swap lighter springs into the distributor of my '66 Chevelle's 283 to get it to run stronger off the line lol.

K2-K6:
I'm uncertain what they changed on the mech to get the change but it doesn't seem undesirable to delay slightly. Both Hondaman on the net site and things like Boyer electronic go towards this delay but don't give clear analysis as to why they choose that. In that respect it could be viewed as a power / response mod for these engines.

Nice car that Chevelle. Cars usually run a vac advance that tempers the advance under wide open throttle to avoid full load advance too early so the set points are different to the bikes.
The car being all out by obout 65000 / 7000 as the bike is going to run to 10000rpm the bike curve is more of a compromise with less tools to adapt at particular load and rpm points.

Worth running it as you've got it to see what it feels like I think.
