when i recently bought a 400f as a minor restoration project it came with a few bits including a chrome front mudguard which was supposed to fit it but it clearly is not from a 400f because of the deep side valance.

anyone any idea what its from??

My mate has got one exactly the same as that on his 400 four. It might be a non oem replacement, just a bit different to standard.

i will have to remeasure it to see if it does actually fit mine - useful spare?
