Good day to you all :-)
After a long and protracted dismantling/storage/rebuild process, my 1977 400/4 Super Sport is finally back on the road, so here I am.
There are still some cosmetics to finish (decals, mirrors etc), but first I need to find some of the original Honda Light Ruby Red paint. Any advice from you fine fellows?

Welcome to the Forum Dave. RS paints do all the Honda colours, including Light Ruby Red. Many other suppliers do it as well. But... But, if yours is a 77 (F2) light Ruby Red wasn't the right colour for that year. (although you may not be worried about that of course)

Thanks NJ, I'll get on to them.
It is a 400F, not an F2 - I guess it must have been one of the last, first registered 30th March 77. I picked it up for a ton back in 95 as a 'running wreck'. The previous owner acquired it in 82 and I reckon for a goodly number of those 13 years it had been loitering under a tarp by his front door.
Ye gods, I've just worked out that I've had it for 25 years, stored in crates for 22 of 'um! Ah well, better late than never At least it's only got 29K on the clock

You can't rush a good thing 😁😁😁 Yes, so if it was registered March 77, it's an 76 manufacture F model so Light Ruby Red is correct. Will it all be finished for the road this spring / summer do you think?

Yup, hope to get it re-sprayed and badged as soon as funds and time allow. It's road legal now so I can be running in the engine re-build etc as I go. We have a nice local bike meet at Burnham Cricket Club every June and 400/4s have been noticeably absent the past three years

Hi Steve.

It's run by the East Berks Section of the AJS & Matchless Owners Club, who meet at Burnham (Bucks) Cricket Club twice a month ( http://www.amoc-eastberks.co.uk/about.php  ). Once a year they run an open evening and usually end up with 100+ bikes of all ages, scarcity and rarity. Beer and food are available from the club-house and its just a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours on a summer's evening.

This year's 'Burnham Bike Night' is scheduled for 6th July.

These 400/4s are like buses. Waited 25 years for one and another arrives straight after

So, 150 miles since the re-build and the 400 is back in the shop to sort a small oil seepage from the head gasket and a general nuts'n'bolts check. Then it's just the kick-start lever fitting, side panel repair and overall re-spray in the correct red (with decals) and it should be good to go and self-isolate on :-)
