A look back at a nice memories

In these uncertain and anxious health times at home and across the world, I thought I would look back with a smile and fond memories when my wife (Bev) and I drove our TR6 on a 3 week/3,000 mile Euro tour in June 2019.  Life went a bit went downhill after that for a while, but I put together a Flickr album as good memories are precious: https://www.flickr.com/photos/115740825@N05/albums/72157712260956578 - if you hover the mouse over each photo it gives a brief description.

Great pictures Andrew and obviously happy memories for you.  The car must have behaved well and in some great scenic areas too.  We have been touring Europe - mainly the Netherlands, Germany and our favourite Austria almost every year since the 80’s, mostly by GoldWing but also to Bavaria with our Classic Mini Clubman Estate and lots of Jaguar and Supercharged Daimler trips.

Lovely car and great holiday photos.I loved driving my brothers TR6 in the eighties in preference to my MGB,I wonder why lol😂

Tr6. My fav British sports car. Give me a straight 6 any day.
Petrol or Diesel. Nothing sounds as smooth.

My brothers TR was the last but one 150 BHP injected car off the production line think the last one went to France.He sold it three years ago after 33 years ownership

Thanks for your comments folks. We had a great time and the TR6 ran without any problems and you just can't beat the sound of a straight six lump on song. Definitely the last of the traditional British sports cars. I bought my first TR6 in 1983 and have owned one almost ever since.

I bet he wished he still had it. Bob Tullis (he raced Triumph TRs from the mid-60's - mid-80's) bought the last TR6 off the production line at Coventry and had it shipped to the States. He still has it, and the last TR8.

Work colleague had one at Racal (1981-ish)

It was dreadfully unreliable.

He swapped it for a Dolomite Sprint (and then an Alfa something as the Dolomite was dreadful too!)

About only thing worse was a stag and that was two dolomites together!!

Rumours at the time were that the TR7 was supposed to be a V8 from the start but too many problems and cost stipped it.

Little fact is that the Rover V8 was an old Buick(i think) design and fitted to several different BL vehicles which had many different manual or auto boxes fitted and instead of making one crank with a hole to take different spigot bearings or bushes each design had a unique crank!

Same here at Racal Wembley, an engineer by the name of Mike had a Magenta one which sounded great - we used to race round Wembley Way in the late 70's (me on my CB750 K1), that's when I decided I wanted one.

The Lucas PI was the main problem, it would overheat on a nice hot sunny day (just the kind of day you'd want to use it!!). Luciky a Bosch replacement pump would sort the problem and most other common issues have been engineered out these days.

yes, the Rover V8 was from the Buick, my 1993 MG RV8 has the 3.9 injected version (from the Range Rover) still a bit agricultural though but at least the injection system is a bit more up to date.  Same unit was bunged into lots of TVRs too.
