what do you guys actually use to sync the carbs , i know you use the sync gauges which if i am right basically measure air flow, but where do you get these from
anyone point me in direction of a set i could purchase

Carb sync is basically setting the height of each of the throttle slides so that they are all within a certain range.
With the carbs on the bench, look into the inlet side and you should see that each slide has a gap of about 1/8".
Wind the idle screw in (raises all four slides) until the drill shank(parallel part) just slides under the lowest carb the adjust the others down to it so you can then unadjust the idle screw to get a tickover. (BryanJ wrote that last bit a while back)
OR
buy a Carbtune or vacuum gauges - different method of measuring the same thing.
