Its the 3 year warranty on electrical goods too that is a comfort if worried re cheap and quality...  Ditto Lidl. Perhaps not the tools for pros but fine for occasional muppets like me!
One day I'll have the time to restore it, not just talk and dream....

It least replace the cable on that drill before you blow yourself up.
Nah, install a new cord (maybe a set of brushes while at it)... the thing will serve another decade or two  8)

While I too worked with a Weller soldering-gun as shown (decades ago), the huge soldering-irons shown rather remind of roofing-tools...  ;)

A bit off topic & I dont want to hijack your post but................

Just going back to this old topic (Christmas is coming so time to ask for some tools🙂).
I would like to get a corded rattle gun to replace my air driven Lidl rattle gun although there is nothing wrong with it it is a pain having to run the compressor to undo just one nut!
So, my question is about setting the torque when replacing a nut rather than taking it off. Is there anyway of setting the torque on a corded rattle gun? I'm interested in the Clarke option (they have a couple in their range) but I cannot find anything in the description of how to set the torque, obviously I don't want to do a crank nut up to 450nm when it should be 80 or something or am I missing the point being the rattle gun is only to RELEASE stuck nuts and not to put them back on?

When i wer a lad it was done by feel mate and counting the taka takas, do you have 18-24v cordless tools as there are some half tidy versions of those about now, nothing that will touch what the snap on 24v will do but new batteries for those are kin spensive!
I just gave my mate one that takes the new Makita battery and he said 6 out of 10 but he was used to the snap on one, i bought one for me with batteries but havent read the destructions yet, could let you know when i get home

For the general low torque values on Hondas fitting a Torque stick to an Impact gun ain't going to work for tightening up anything   - except car wheels. I am not aware of any impact tool that will accurately tighten up anything below around 65 ft lbs then still using a torque stick.
My cordless tool (a Kielder) has double the torque effect when undoing a bolt that it uses automatically when in reverse but there is no setting for tighteneing up except a lower range - can't remeber the figure its around 150 lb ft in low range for tightening about 300 lb ft for undoing. It's a great tool but my mates cordless Milwuarke is supperior as is the price.

I suspect no impact tool will replace a Torque wrench except at high torque values.

My Kilder came with one battery only the kit that I bought about 6-8 years ago was about £125 it's 1/2 drive, the battery holds it charge but would not undo a couple of my 400 crank bolts  - a mate  undid it with his Milwuarke .

I favour Makita, but battery compatibility is obviously a big part. Son has them too and so we both benefit from everything being 18v and compatibility bonus for us.  There's quite a lot of good tools now from many different brands though.

To answer the question though for Dave, I don't routinely use one for torque to spec though. Small stuff too risky, big stuff, no idea where it's actually got to. Little confidence in that aspect.

For small stuff though, I'm using a screwdriver that's clutched with variable settings to spin things closed  then manually check and tighten.
This tool (I've mentioned before ) is really good on siezed items, as you can set low clutch and continually "rattle " at something to eventually get any corrosion to release, that's without a high torque risk for snapping an already compromised fixing.

I've got numerous problematic bits undone like that.  Using a square drive adapter, which I've got in 1/4 3/8 & 1/2 inch. Also T bits thumped into knackered Allen heads to remove with ease.

Been using a Millwaukee cordless wrench professionally when removing light truck wheel nuts etc, it's the big daddy of impact wrenches with a price to match.
But wouldn't even think of going near my Honda Cb750 with such a tool, It would be too easy to overtighten and strip stuff.

Only exception would be perhaps removing the crank rotor bolt or those awkward front fork lower stanchion hex screws that spin when you try and loosen them.

Snap-on impact screw driver is probably the most brutal item in my motorcycle tool box.

+1 for the Makita. Would never use for tightening though. These things are amazing.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm going to go with the rattle gun from Machine Mart (it's a Clarke). I've decided on a mains powered item due to its limited use and I really don't want the hassle of batteries going flat or dying especially considering they are going to be in a very cold garage that is the killer of batteries👍

... batteries going flat or dying especially considering they are going to be in a very cold garage that is the killer of batteries👍
Dunno... had such machines in the service van for years, winter or summer, and the batteries never failed me... heat was more of an issue (HVAC)...

Made a good deal on a Bosch Professional 18V set consisting of GDX 18V-200 (rattler, 1/4 & 1/2") and GSR 18V-55 (drill) incl. 2x 4Ah Li-Ion batteries and charger...
However, the GDX 18V-200 can "only" handle 200 Nm, so for heavy stuff like a clutch basket lock-nut I too have a mains power unit handling 500 Nm...
And for small stuff, like stubborn carb bowl screws a little GDR 12V-105 (1/4")... but would first give my Vessel Megadora impact screwdrivers a go...

Yeah... I guess I'm a tool addict...  ???
OTOH good to be prepared for all eventualities...

I rate the Clarke products, they do spares for them.
I bought one of their pressure washers about 30 plus years ago - still going strong had to have a replacement lance about 5 years ago.

I've had one of the small red Clarke parts washers for over 20 years Ted and it gets used and abused on a regular basis. The motor gave up during the summer. A new pump actually costs more than a new complete parts washer but at least you can still buy the spares I guess. I bought a new parts washer from eBay for half the price of the Clarke unit the only difference being the eBay item was blue and not Clarke red otherwise exactly the same. All was good until I switched it on, the pump is so powerful the cleaning fluid bounces off the cleaning tray and all over the floor! I need to find a way of turning the motor down.

If you want to reduce the flow add a orifice 'plate' into the pipe work.
Possibly a metal disk between the pump outlet and the pipe, drill hole in centre to suit required flow. i.e. start small and increase until you have the flow required.

Just bought a 'SGS' version in black, cheapest I could find, same as all the others apart from colour! Added a hose mounted 'brush' from machine mart and also needed to reduce the flow or all the cleaning fluid would be on the floor!
