Probably has to do with US and other models. If you really want to know, you may want to consult the wiring diagrams in the Owner's manual: http://www.honda4fun.com/pdf_libretti/550/550F_76/librettoCB550F_76_4.pdf
The wiring diagram of the -A model you will find in that other Owner's manual: http://www.honda4fun.com/pdf_libretti/550/550_77/libretto550_77_3.pdf.
But I never use the P function.
