Ive had the engine out and stripped, selector forks aren't worn at all but the 3 dogs on the 4th/5th gear are, i have now fitted the gear train out of the CB350 twin. This has 5 dogs and looks much more robust and the dogs engage fully. Its all back up and running now and I've done a few hundred miles without any issues, so fingers crossed this has fixed the problem.  :D

The centre selector is the same part number,
Did you use 350 outer selectors or 500 and is it just ratios yhat are different?

Hi Bryanj

The outer selectors are as good as new so they are the original 500 ones. The centre fork is 350 as is the 4th/5th gear. The ratios are the same just the needle bearings on the ends are different.

I knew there was crossover between the 250/350/450 twins and the 500 four but never had them in bits side by side to compare
