At last, making some headway with the engine. New bearings, shells, seals, primary chain, primary rubbers, cam chain and chain guides. Rods and crank turn freely and gears engage perfectly. Next engine in frame, head rebuild and a bit on minor porting: mainly cleaning up the casting marks and manifold matching.

Thanks, Ted. Just don’t look too closely. Wish I’d taken time to dress down the die cast splatter and general casting debris, but I guess that would then look unnatural.

On cars I used to put a valve in my drill then using an old Stanley Knife blade I would run it up & down as the valve rotated - I would finish off with the edge with some folded  Wet & Dry paper being careful not to overdo it.

Yes, I use a brass brush. But was wondering if there was a magical chemical method? As an experiment I tried a piston in the ultrasonic cleaner. Came up like new. I’ll try a valve too.

Air hubs…very trick . Actually original DID rims in good nick. Certainly serviceable and will be up for sale if anybody is interested.

Looking really good. When large lumps of the bike get finished and installed it makes a huge difference to seeing real progress.
