550 F2 started!

Laverda Dave:
When I drilled the pin out in the 400/4 carb rail I replaced it with a grub screw after taping out the location of the old pin. I turned the end of the grub screw in the trusty myford to the same diameter and depth of the slot in the spindle. I also used a locknut on the grub screw to prevent it falling out in use and leaving me stranded!
On a previous 400/4 restoration I used a roll pin to replace the pin, a lot quicker but not so easy to remove in the future.
I remember Ken posting about a suitable grub screw in the past.
If you find the spindle is rusty when you remove it you can either get it hard chrome plated and ground (I was quoted about £140 by Philpotts!) but I contacted Max (formally on here) and he made one for me from stainless and it was excellent quality. He makes them for the 500/550 as well.

Laverdaroo:
Have you posted on the wrong thread Dave, you've lost me? ;)

Laverda Dave:
Sorry Roo, I've posted on an old thread about your carbs when you took them apart and the bowls were green inside,
:-\. I must be living in another dimension (or I'll have another pint of what I must have just drunk :o)

Laverda Dave:
I've just checked it again, you posted it in November 2021, Gez what happened there, how did I post on a three year old thread weird!

Laverdaroo:
Have you been tim'e travelling again Dave? I know the bit you replied to as I read it the other night reading through the build, not sure what youve been drinking but send a four pack of them round here would you ;) ;D
