That looks suitably loud

It will at least sound quick if it doesn’t end up being that quick! Joking with my friends I have built the fastest, old slow bike in town!

Engine looks good, it'll be interesting to hear how it eventually runs.

Are you going to run it on dyno to setup  ? As torque and power charts will be good to see.

They do have a distinct sound to them, these 750 motor in mechanical terms.  A big bore race one was started and run a while back at DS open day that sounded potent. Can't remember what he said as output though.

Was a CR present but they couldn't start it, ignition pack fault as I recall.

First fire up tonight.

I am pretty happy how easily I got it running, I will have lots of fine tuning of the carbs to do I’m certain. I would like to get it’s jetting dialed in on a Dyno so I can confirm safe AFR but for tonight I am happy that after 3 years since I pulled the motor it’s alive again.

That sounds remarkably smooth considering it has open carbs with no filters or pods.
The exhaust note is going to sound pretty awesome when given the beans.
Well done and thanks for posting the video👍

Sounds really good, both exhaust/intake and mechanically.

Are the carbs accelerator pumped ?

Thank you. Yes the RS carbs have an adjustable accelerator pump.

It’s been a busy summer in the Okanagan! Getting the Honda going, several track days, couple short motorcycle trips…  I’ve put a lot of seat time on the 750 this summer getting everything sorted. The last 10% always takes a lot more than 10% of the time!

Glad to say the motor feels amazing. The difference between worn out K5 and fully built hot rod is more than I expected and feel pretty happy with the result.

Here are a few summer photos:

Well done indeed.

On that last photo with it parked along side the new Kawasaki, those not in the know would never think it was an old 1970's Honda CB750 but possibly a modern retro instead...

Thanks for posting the photos.

I'm with Skoti, it really does look the part of a modern retro.

Cheers, it’s been a lot of fun breathing some new life into my old bike. I’m pretty happy with the result so far. It’s a fun bike to ride, and I usually get a nice guy who “used to have one of those” come chat when I’m parked for a break! As you guys know the “to-do” list is never really complete when you ride an old bike, but for now I am glad it’s all in the “Wish list” asides from oil and filters!
