Another day fidfling then so I feel your pain mate……..go get some roach caught with a flask in yer bag and the cricket on the radio.

Your batteries will be recharged in no time

Phase one has arrived today in the post - Ken kindly sent me a full set of the correct needles, Emulsion Tubes plus the correct air screws - what a star and loss to this Forum he is during his unknown suspension period. Even criminals know their release date from imprisonment.

It is always refreshing when members save your build f.o.c. with not a hint of gain on their agenda. I do my best to reciprocate here with my relatively small stash of old parts.

I will be removing the carbs as soon as I am in the right frame of mind as my project is presently at a standstill.

Blaming the referee when you have been sent off overlooks the behaviour of the player.
That said an obvious foul can be as a result of unseen provocation on & off the field.

I need to be mindful of our moderators difficult job, when Steve does whatever magic is involved in maintaing the IT and moderating.  I recognise this burden ,sohc does not run itself on A1 it's run by a human.

I'm sure Steve did not expect to be walking such a tightrope so we need to be mindful of this and step back.

If we are ever to see Ken return (if he wants to) then any change can only come about by some sort of agreement between Ken & Steve with trust & assurances involved.

I've probably said too much - this is my last post on this subject.

Very well said Ted. Hats off to Steve for his balancing act, I'd have fallen off long ago and for maintaining this great forum.

As posted elsewhere my carbs are off so now taking them apart, changing Brassware - blowing out jet passageways etc.

Found more black bits in the carb bowls. They are going to get a good clean again.

Hopefully you'll get to the bottom of the problems in the carbs Ted.

I've seen some huge variation in fuel pipe materials in recent years, some with just appalling deterioration within the first year of use, others with very very good materials performance and integrity.

Something that may be worthwhile considering, the float bowl screws and a change to "torx" type. I've managed to get the bowl off a 400 #3 carb in situ to take out and clean the jets, difficult but possible with the hardest part holding a cross bit (used the hex drive from Barhco 1/4 drive) which could much more easily be accomplished with positive location you get from torx screw.

Many of the 750 carb type have a external swinging spring clip to hold float bowl and no screws to facilitate access like this.

I agree with your comments about petrol pipe - aside from the awful pipe that came with my temporary tank the pipe that came from Silicone Planet became strangely supple/soft to the touch so I have replaced it. It might have been okay but not taking the risk.

I know there must be some debris in carbs 3 & 4 as my bike has run primarily on cylinders 2,3 & 4 initially. after cleaning carb 1 jets in place I briefly had it running on all four cylinders. Just before I took the carbs off I ran the bike for a minute or so ending up with it running on 1 & 2 only based on exhaust pipe getting hot.

I am very tempted to fit a pair of inline filters between the two way tank outlet and the carbs as a precaution against any petrol tank debris or bad petrol.

I have one on my 400 that has caused me no issues - finding a decent pipe route to accomodate the metal filter was seemingly impossible until a memember here (Allankelly1) advised me to run a loop under the seat that works well.

You could also just drop down between the carbs and site filter directly underneath them, then loop back up to get onto feed intake.

It'll make no difference to levels like that.
